How long does your skull candy headphones last?

Dont care if this is a repost...
But I've gone through over 6 pairs of skull candy headphones in the past 3 years at college. Ive gone through icons, ink'd, titans, FMJ's and the longest any of them have lasted is 8 months. Now I wear the shit out them; everyday to and from class on the bus, when im working out, and when im on my computer (about 2 hrs on an average day). I know about their warranty deal, but I can get them off a website for the same deal so that isn't the issue. Usually its the cord getting worked over and I have to wiggle it around to hear out of one or both of the ears.

I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problem and how long do your headphones usually last?????

Well, there are obviously negatives to buying them, but if you can get them replaced free every time, its not that awful.

any ear buds only last me a week to 2 weeks. 3 at the MOST.
i have never gotten a short in my icons though.

icons are still alive today, lowriders i dotn even wear because theyre fucking pieces of shit and skullcrushers are still alive, good experiences with them i guess

yeah i bought a pair of lowriders and probably warrantied them about 8 times, at different stores. they just snap like crazy

My icons have lasted a while only because I only use them when I ski. But service last about a month on average for me

U guys dont 4get about the lifetime warranty that SK gives u any cord issues/sound issues or any issues without abuse involved you can send em in and get new/fixed ones and if u trash em then you can get your next pair 50% off if you send em in. SK's are decent, kickers are pretty dope, but if you have broken Skullcandys send that shit in!

my experiences

1.) Ti- bought them probably mid summer i liked them for the most part except if i wore them for several hours my ears started to hurt(outside of my ear) then one day i decided to ski with them bad idea SNAP

2.)lowriders-back when i was a fag and stole everything i got the 5 finger discount for a friend he rode them for awhile then got some icons and gave me the lowriders back. Didnt have to many problems until my friend tackled me to the ground and they SNAPPED

3.)Icons- these lasted a few months until i decided to attempt a switch 5 fucked up big time and smashed my head im not suprised the thing snapped the sound still worked for a few more days however

4.) Inked- 12 bucks from target i hate in ear headphones anyway lost the comfy parts then one time i went to punch a kid the cord was tangled up with my arm SNAP

5.) icons 2- i love icons cause there loud and dont hurt your ears. however the cord got super tangled and it was annoying eventually the sound went out in the left ear. Sent an email to skullcandy never replied


this upcoming winter i will probably buy another pair of icons cause im a fool

Wow skullcansy products seem to have really shitty durability. My FMJs lasted ne nearly 5 months, but when I pay 60 for a pair of headphones, I expect at least a few years. Coinceddentally, my bose of 2 years still work perfectly...

Did you ride with your Bose? Of course headphones are gonna break if your taking hard slams and using them aggressively. Its kinda like expecting your edges to be fine after hitting rails

ive had my icons since december and theyve been fine and ive skiied in them

although my brother has gone through so many pairs of smokin buds in the last year its rediculous

Try cleaning your ears more often. Not saying anyone is guilty of bad hygiene. There has been two instances in which my kid said his earphones don`t work anymore(Usually one earphone first,then the other). They need to be cleaned, Most have a tiny screen on them that gets clogged up with earwax. Unfortunately you need to remove the screen in order to clean them thoroughly. Usually you can remove them with a toothpick,then wipe clean with a q-tip front and back sides. Put it back together,and just like new. Hope this helps,you`d be surprised what a difference a little earwax can do!

Like I can see why people buy beats since they think they don't sound like anus, but at least they're built decently well and last longer than 10 days/rant

idk but mine lasted an entire year and were working just last night now i have to hold the cord a certain way for the right ear bud to work i'm not sure what type though, they are this one from the photo they are also my only pair of earbuds

I have had the XTFrees for 2 years now I only use them when skiing, then I have a pair of crushers that are 6 months old. I used to use the wired buds (ink'd or smokin' buds) that wouldn't even last a whole season.

My methods usually last about 2-4 months. My current pair lasted 6-ish weeks before i had to tape where the wire splits to the earbuds so I can get sound out of my left bud. Been going strong for a few months like that.

I used to go through headphone like most people in this thread, then I sucked it up and cashed out 100$ for a pair of Marley Zions. Amazing sound, noise canceling, they've gone through the wash 3 times, and been beat to hell

dude u can buy a cheap pair of decent headphones on amazon for like 10 bucks. does it really matter how long they last?

i love buying shit on amazon, any time it breaks u just return it and get a full refund anyways

why anyone would buy such horrendous headphones is beyond me. like really they make aweful products. and no dont buy bose or beats instead.

if you want cheap quality headphones, look at sony.

if you have more demanding needs go poke around the head-fi forums for a while.

I've had 3 pairs of skull candy Method Earbuds. They're good quality and stay in your ears while skiing. Each pair lasted over a year before busting. Usually starts with skip song button, then later the earbuds stop working. But good price for such long-lasting earbuds. Backcountry.com = $30
