Police states are everywhere these days. This scene is not uncommon, and this actually wasn't bad compared to most of the shit that happens. In seatle a few years ago the riot police got way out of control.


Fuck this shit. People need to stand up for a change.

I think it was because they are canadian. Wasn't digging the song at all. But they should have held their ground. that's when shit get's crazy though, even in a peaceful protest.

Oh yeah that video isn't bad at all, the cops were trying to move people off queen street and charged the crowd trying to get them to move.

One cop fell over. No one was hit or arrested.

Way worse shit went down elsewhere.

people made the protests turn violent in the past, so the police have no reason to believe it won't happen again. What police forces normally do in such situations is set a distance in front of them that protesters cannot cross.

and i suppose if you want to get real technical, the people were in a road, which means they were blocking a public through way, so the police removed them.

I don't see it here. I think police were just getting hardcore to clear people out. they could have marched forward. No need to look like you're trying to kill people.

But the seatle wto protests. They got a lot of peaceful protesters fucked up.



The shittiest part about that one was... The cops just let them vandalize  store after store and did nothing. Store owners were beggin police to do something, they just sat there and let it go down. then after all the asshats disappeared, the cops came through full force with all the riot gear and fucked up the peaceful protesters that hadn't done anything. It was a shitty shitty approach. But that's how they got those "PROTEST FREE" or "FREE SPEECH ZONES" past in different places.

Great tactic, and if you really look into it. And who profited from it the most. Seems like a liekly possibility it was meant to go down like that. Now you can't protest freely, and most peaceful protesters are considered into the whole terror thing. they use pictures and stats from all the assclowns as reasoning for keeping it that way. shit is bogus.


1. Let people destroy the city/Stand there and watch
2. Let them leave
3. Fuck up the peaceful protesters.

exactly what happened, abandon a couple police cruisers in front of the protesters, take off for 2 hours while a bum sets them on fire. come back and arrest the people who had nothing to do with anything.

makes a great photo op to show how "over run" the police were.

Very lame but extremely effective. Makes great headlines in the papers and on the news. Besides the average american is not that smart. They see it on the news for a few days and support any action to stop that sort of horrible thing from happening again.

no body put a gun to their head to light those cars on fire. it was their decision.

and as for the broken windows. that occurred in high protester concentrated areas where according to police SOP an officer would be vulnerable. and you can't prevent every single window from being broken by a protester. a lot of those cops couldn't do anything because they are just normal cops mandated to hold the line. they can't get just can't do their own mission into the crowd to get those people. the people doing the damage were to deep in the masses. they were looking at it as, my own safety running into a possible mob vs a window that will be replaced.

They let them run free. And they were prepared. They had all the riot gear and latest shit on hand. they just let those assholes destroy the place. Then after they all cleared out and it was just a bunch of peaceful protesters the cops went ape shit.

oh i see, so now letting them run free is a bad thing. so what happened last sunday corralling all those people is a bad thing. the police can't win can they?

you obviously missed my point about the window smashing happening too deep in the crowd for a bunch of beat cops to leave their line and mission in to grab these kids. you kind of need permission from your superiors to go in to do that before you risk leaving yourself vulnerable.

and i the believe were very patient with their protest. all those people in front of the detention center was an example of that. they kept on giving 5 minute warning to those kids, but the police did nothing. they were in the street, disrupting the people in the houses that were adjacent to the street, but the police still allowed them to mass their and even struck up a deal saying that if you moved back from the area they would continue to release people. an officer can tell you to leave an area even if it is public btw. they can do this if you disrupt the peace or in obstruction. those people were. and the police acted as such.

I was talking about seatle. They didn't do anything. They let the people destroy the city, those people were in no way part of or supported by the protesters. They let them bounce. Then only after they had made a big mess and left, the cops came through and fucked up all the people who had been peacefully protesting.

This kind of shit resulted in the no protest zones  anti free speech stuff. The constitution isn't cool anymore.

wow dude... youre trying to tell me that since people had differing opinions in the CROWD, and since some people maybe didnt have the ability to articulate what they were in opposition to, you think that proves that all the protesters dont know what theyre protesting against? do you even know anything about these protests or G20? why dont you stop being a cocky internet warrior and realize that youre talking out of your ass and many of those protesters could argue you under the table in 2 seconds flat. you can take any standpoint you want but realize that youre in way over your head if youre going to summarily disregard every protester out there cause there happen to be some idiots out there.. jesus christ

well the difference is that ghandi and the rest of them were protesting for something that they believed in, and were willing to die to achieve. Most protesters these days do it because it's the cool thing to do, and they just like to seem anti-authority.

alright so i have been reading up today about these kinds of protests. and this is completely my opinion so dont blast me. I have been hearing things about the police leaving decoy cars on purpose for people to light up in order to: A)Justify that 1 billion dollars were spent usefully, B)Cause great media attention and C)Draw attention away from the purpose of the peaceful protesters. Yes i understand that some officers were held back because they needed to stand post, therefore not being able to tend to the anarchist destroying property. but dont tell me with 1 billion dollars you couldn't hire enough police officers to go chase down those fuckers. and trust me, i saw ENOUGH police there. I never once saw a black bloc protester being cuffed or taken away. only peaceful ones. like at that crackdown at spadina and queen yesterday where protesters were cornered from all sides and told to leave with no way out. They ended up arresting a shit load of them despite being peaceful. people were VOLUNTEERING to be arrested because the police were not allowing people out and it was raining hard. its bullshit that the anarchist were able to be free while peaceful protesters were arrested. Now the media was so focused on the destruction that i pretty much NEVER heard about any of the causes of the protesters. i never really heard why most groups were there. Everything was mainly based on the destruction. Now i know that in montreal previously, the police had sent out undercover police acting as anarchist to rouse the peaceful crowd. i think that may have also been the case here. the pieces just dont add up. read this article too. if you disagree with my opinions in this, thats fine, but just relax.

alright in addition, this stupid event has caused the city of toronto and Canadians money. these are our tax dollars spent to clean up this bullshit and "protect" the city (which they failed to do). its so ridiculous and avoidable. wouldn't it make sense to go away from the people? like perhaps a secure military base? or even closer to the airport (arrow hall etc). it just doesn't make sense to bring it into Toronto.
