ya i think they r called lamprey

a few people i know were fishing and theres like nothing to catch because all the fish are dead because of them, and the ones they do catch have them still attached/giant open wounds

they are pretty much like giant leeches, they can grow up to 6 feet in the ocean, but they usually don't get as big in smaller lakes

im seriously not trolling, this is exactly what i learned in school a few years back

nope, lamprey are agnathans and they don't have any real fins up front. Plus lamprey and hagfish have no jaws but these fish certainly do have them.

thats a north american snakehead. it was introduced to a pond in Crofton, MD in like 2001 i think. Now there is a viable population in the potomac river. They are pretty scary ecologically speaking, as they are a top tier predator. However, contrary to popular belief, while they can breathe atmospheric air, the northern snakehead cannot walk on land. Only the juveniles of the species can, and only for very short distances. Other species of snakeheads can walk on land though, but they aren't in North America. Yet.

What about sea lampreys? they are parasites and feed on fishes blood by hooking to the fish and scraping it with its tongue to make it bleed.

yes... they are currently being blown way out of proportion! I saw an ad on tv that had a "snakehead" killing a baby which is not physically possible. They are a very expensive delicacy in their native land of thailand. They made it to America because a person saw a market for the fish and thought he would put them into his pond and breed them.

Unfortunately the got out of the pond and are now taking over the ecosystem.

I caught one in lake champlain, thought it was a gar or pike because it fought so hard. We put it in the live well just to check it out and look at it and and ate another fish we had in there. there such nasty ass fish

saw this tv show about them.......they aren't deadly threat to humans but in rare occurences they have been known to attack humans because they are extremely territorial and aggressive. The bad thing about them is they kill off the native fish to the point of extinction

Snakehead are definitely real. They are illegal in the United States. National Geographic had a whole show on em. They don't "walk" on land but they definitely can live out of water for hours and can "squirm" across hard ground. A single snakehead can dessimate whole aquatic ecosystems. They are usually found in Asia where they are sometimes smuggled into the US for personal pets. This shit is not to be messed with.
