Will an adapter affect how the lens functions at all?

What's your definition of an adapter? Are you thinking of a filter, or an extender?

I am not worried about that. I just want to know if it will affect the camera or lens in a negative way.

I don't think it will effect anything but no auto focus.

I use the KAWA adapter and it lets me use a nikkor lens just fine with my canon body.
