So ive bought my truck and i want to tint the windows, my pops has his truck murked out limo tint (badass) and he hasn't had to rip it off but inspection is a bitch for him. I wanted to know: A;have you guys/girls ever been hassled from police and had to tear your tint off and B:does 20% darkness look good i mean for a clean no completely blackout but you don't want to be seen.
yeah i mean my dad is murked out camper top on his tacoma and hes never been pulled just because of his tint and 20% is all i could find at the local store here so ill pro do that and stay within the strip line on the windshield.
i'm tinting it to kinda hide the sub im installing and just my ski gear and in general my shit,we dont have a bad crime rate car break ins but its just something i feel my comfortable with.
a lot of kids i know fuck with 5% tinting, but i wouldn't personally. you'll be fine getting a 20 which is what some other friends of mine have and it's dark, but not HELLA dark.
i live in seattle, btw, and the legal limit is 35%, but none of my friends have gotten in trouble for it.
i would recommend going the same tint on all windows and lighter on the strip in the front because thats the only part ive ever seen someone get screwed for..i have never been called out and im too dark for co
I have a Subaru Outback with 15% all around, then 20% on the driver/passenger. I like it because it keeps out sun, I can sleep in it, looks good, and i can still see at night. Anymore than 15% at night I doubt you can check your blind spot for switching lanes. There are different rules for trucks and SUVS, so double check what is legit.
I would never tint out my truck that dark. Backing up a trailer at night in the rain becomes almost impossible. And the cops get a little uptight during traffic stops when they can't see inside the vehicle.
Not sure what was on mine, I think it was 20 or 15?? Had it for almost a year here in PA before I got stopped, pulled over totally for the tint and nothing else. Removed it myself in about an hour total.
I just took the driver and passenger window off, I'm pretty sure your allowed to tint anything behind that however you want.
P.S. if you have frameless windows make sure you explicitly tell them to take the tint all the way to the edge, or you might end up with some ugly lines you can see form the outside.
used to have 5 all the way around in my explorer, never got hassled, and it passed inspection. but sw back to 20 bc i couldnt see anything at night, and it still passes inspection. so your good either way.
