We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive. Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?! Acosta: Did you say something? Raoul Duke: Hm? Nevermind. It's your turn to drive. Narrator: No point in mentioning these bats, I thought. Poor bastard will see them soon enough. - fear and loathing in las vegas

You should check out 'Hells Angles' also by Hunter ........I liked Fear and Loathing better , but its still a good read

well if you like drug addiction and you like las vegas, then you should also watch 'leaving las vegas' fucking good movie. nicholas cages' character smacks the bottom pretty good and keeps on going through to the other side. but thats what happens when you go to las vegas to drink yourself to death. (he also falls in love with a prositute). i warn you though this isn't a movie for pussies, or for any of you bitches who swear by snl movies.

It's an awesome movie, extemely entertaining, Dr. Gonzo is my fav character in the movie, but in the book it's the drugs... Read it, watch it, it's all good.

I saw the movie and i loved it. Then i bought the book and read it. And read it. And read it. I have read that book so many times i know a lot of it by heart. The best part though, is at the end when Thompson is at his typewriter picking apart the acid generation.

About people not understand the movie, i totally agree. I only know a couple of people who actually understand the movie; everyone else just gives me a blank stare after they see it.

the best book by one of the best writers of his time. i love the movie. i love the book. i have yet to find an HST book that i dont like, and for that he is the man to me. if you like him, check out the book Kingdom of Fear. it is sort of his memoirs so to speak.

Depp and Del Toro are making a new Thompson movie The Rum Diaries. It was a good book, less drugs but more rum. It should be real good

the movie compares to the book very well. which is almost a bad thing because nobody understand the movie because its just an incoherent sequence of images, much like the book was just a non-timelines bunch of VERY ENTERTAINING rambelings

the rum diarys is going to be a great movie. i just finished that book like last week. reading fear and loathing for the first time right now.

If you liked the movie, read the book. I've found that a lot of people who aren't into reading loved fear and loathing, just because hunter's style and the subject made it so different from most other books.

i'd really recomend reading the book. it makes the movie alot clearer, so you have a better understanding of what's going on and it makes the movie even better.

i just got into part two today. i noticed that the cop didnt ask him for a kiss in the book. the great red shark was actually HST's car, they used it for the movie.

I thought I understood the movie, but now I think about it, I couldnt actually explain what its about to anyone. Still love the movie though, fucking awesome. Mindtrip, but awesome.

I freakin love that movie... I always watch IFC and leaving las vegas, FALILV and Pi are the greatest movies ever. Great expectations was good, and there are countless awesome shorts like running with the bulls which stars the guy who played the hebrew hammer.
