Opinions on Surface Skis. (Nine Lives)

This year I started to notice a brand I had never paid any attention to...Surface.  When I took a trip to Utah I noticed a few people using them in the pow and I also saw that a few people in the clownschool edits, mainly Jeff Kiesel, used the Surface Nine Lives. 

I am a park rider who only skis a couple days of pow a year when I go out west, so I would be interested in the Surface Nine Lives.  Has anyone ridden these before?  I looked on Surface's website and found that they seem to be a super solid all around park ski.  I am interested in trying new things and riding a ski that not that many people use.  So if have opinions on the Nine Lives, tell me what you think.

They are SUPER light, medium stiff, but the early rise makes nose butters a breeze, fairly playful, and energetic, however they have some durability issues (seems kinda hit or miss - I've seen some people who have 20 or so edge cracks after 5 days, mine personally snapped in half, but others have had ZERO issues and rode them hard all year).

I personally loved mine, they were really fun until they were destroyed.

^Danget man.  It's stuff like this that makes me angry.  They sound like a super legit park ski, but they have  durability issues.  Such a shame.

Thanks for the great review though, anyone else?

I have 50 plus days on mine and not a single problem was hard on rails and not a single edge crack! If you detune your edges  you are way less likely to get edge cracks!

as far as durability all the issues have been sorted out for next year! the no-time is SOLID

mine havent had any durability issues, and are the best ski ive ever ridden on. literally learned like 10 new tricks my first weekend on em because of the weight

Great ski until you land a slightly over rotated backflip and one of the tail snaps blowing the heal of your binding off.

Really? I just got mine a few days ago, and I was a little disappointed because the tip has hardly any rocker, like barely noticable. I don't think it will make much of a difference on snow. (Although the tail does have considerably more.) Is there any difference in the rocker profile between the 162, 172 and 182 lengths? Mine are 172.

 It is no secrete the the nine lifes had durability issues. The 10/11 park ski is called the No Time. Some how I managed to be the one of the only people not on the team that has some no times (the guys are surface are really nice, send them an email, and they will hook it up!). My first impressions are good. A little heavier than the nine life's, but that is probably to increase durability. They have Tip and Tail early rise, and it is noticeable! These skis are the tits! (in a good way)!

I could, in fact I have a 10/11 catalog, but I don't want to leak them. Surface should have them out in a few weeks anyways!

I just got a pair of nine lives for next year, I rode my watch lifes hard all year and they were awesome, can't wait for my nine lives. As for durability, I feel like if something goes wrong, I'll just PM them and figure something out.

The surface nine life. There is alot to say about it. It is super light. The early rise makes it way fun of jumps. The only bad think about them is the edges. After like 2 weeks of riding you will start to notice little cracks in your edges. If you are looking into getting some surface skis you should get next year No Time. Or the Anthony B park ski witch is the No Time with his own graphic on it! But Surface is a way dope company. dope skis and the nicest guys you will ever meet!
