Well this kind of sucks...

So in the middle of the year i was lapping the park and i got a little bit careless and fell on a stupid thing that i never would have fallen on if i was pushing myself. well i fell dislocated my shoulder... it was bad i could't get it back in i had to kind of hit it so it would go in.. that was the worst pain in my life. it was the first time it happened so i did't know what was going on... i ended up keep ridden and it got progressively worse every time i fell on it the wrong way it would pop out. i never got it checks out. then lacrosse season came and it come out 2 times in one game it was horrible i finally got it checked out by the doctor and he said that my muscle has stretched so much from my shoulder going in and out that i am going to need surgery to get it re . paired.. and not my summer is going to be ruined..

so my question to you is has anyone had this done? how bad is the recovery if bad at all please let me know

well when i popped it back in it was fine it just was a little soar. when it was out it was bad.

Ive dislocated my shoulder seriously twice now. I got it checked out the second time it happen and the doctor said i need to do some physiotherpy to get the muscle around it stonger because it if were to happen again chanes are i would need the surgury. Unfortunately I spoke with my physiotherapist and she said the surgury takes a while to recover from. It takes roughly 6 months to recover from and youll have to do physiotherapy afterwards to strengthen the muscles around the joint. It will most likely be a tough process but afterwards you shoulder is supposed to preform much better then it did before and the chances of another dislocation become very slim.

If i dislocated my anything, i would go get it checked out. Why would you wait through winter and spring?

yeah thanks i was told that my shoulder would have a little less range of motion when it was done but that might not be true because of what you said. i hope what you said is true but idk..

Yea I dislocated my knee in the 08/09 season. Still have to wear a knee brace when I do sports (Downhill biking, soccer, skiing...). You should have immediately gone to a doctor when you had the problem. Usually if it isn't too bad (the muscle doesn't usually get completely fucked the first time) they can get you help and you wouldn't have to deal with surgery.

Shouldve gotten it checked out. I dislocated my shoulder forward and snapped the head of my humerus off while in the pipe. Got two permanent screws and the doc said that another injury to that shoulder wouldnt be fixable.

This sort of thing happened to one of my buddies, except it always happened when he skiing so he'd just get friends to pop it back in. He got surgery right around this time last year and was skiing fine the next season. You should get the surgery ASAP.

dude its gona be strait. youl'll get the surgury then your shoulder will be almost as good as normal. should defiantly gotten it checked out but as a man you obviously dont want to admit to being hurt, its happened to me alot and it can come back and bite you in the ass.

p.s. you play lacrosse for southington? i played for hall this year, crazy ass game.

same thing happened to me, but i also tore my labrum.  I got surgery, and the recovery truly SUCKED.  I had to wear a big, uncomfortable, padded sling for 6 weeks, including while i slept, had to do lots of physio, and my shoulder is still messed up.

I had the surgery on Febuary 28th.

I'm about halfway through recovery, and it's going to keep me out until next September. The entire process until you can take impacts again is about 6 months. Surgery was honestly pretty easy compared to some of the ones people have received, and the only bad part is the first 6 weeks after it when you wear a sling everywhere.

After that, you're allowed to start stretching for another 6 weeks and after that comes the strengthening stage.(which I just started) As of right now, I feel completely normal on a day to day basis. I'm allowed to swim, I'm can do all the individual aspects of sports, I just can't risk a solid impact.

If I was you, I'd get it ASAP. You want to get it out of the way immediately, and it's important to have it recently after the dislocation. I was in the operating room 48 hours after the skiing crash, and that's probably why I'm healing up so nicely.

Remember, it's 6 months of downtime. Get it now and don't destroy the next ski season.

2 years ago mine came out for the first time. Since then it has come out a couple dozen times. Most of the time I had friends put it in for me, but one time it came out in school and because of liability they refused to put it in, so I learned really fast how to put it in myself. Really traumatic.
So I started lifting weights a ton (rows, bench, shoulder excersises) and it rarely comes out now. And when it does, its A BITCH to get back in. Overall its pretty good now.

I DID go to the doctor, he said that it was up to me, I could get it or go without. I went without because the weights seemed to be working. If its not terrible, but still is painful, you can rough it out on a high protein weightlifting regimen. Just bulk the fuck up.

thanks man i am getting it done my surgery is going to happen this wed.. i am kinda nervous just because i have never been operated on and it is kinda weird thinking about it... but thank you for a legit explanation on what is going to go on during this.

Yeah its fuckin hard to put back in now, last time it was pulled out I needed four people to pull on it.

But it literally never comes out anymore, just gotta be careful. If we end up getting socialized medicine, I might get the surgery. I'm no taxpayer. Ahaha

ok thank you guys for the feedback i did end up getting surgery on jun 23.. 3days ago. so far it has really hurt... i recommend you get it. it is worth a try.

Oh yeah, well one time I got shot 24 times with a machine gun during a gang war, crawled to the side and surgically removed them myself with rusty old pop can. Top that!

My friend had the same thing with Dislocated Shoulders He kept getting them. He just had surgery the other day.

Now he has to wear this for a long time
