I need some help in a camera choosing situation

Well, since you already sold your video camera (bad choice IMO) the new t2i seems to be the camera you want, you can buy an adaptor for nikon lenses on a canon so if you have some good glass, just cop one of these adapters:

Not sure if that's the most legit kind, but something like that would make it so you don't have to buy any glass.

Now in the case that you don't have baller glass (which if you have multiple lenses that seems like t would be untrue) id start all over with canon and cops some nice shit.

But in an ideal world, you wouldn't have sold your video camera/would have upgraded with a real video camera, but that's just me.

Well technically I havnt sold my camera yet because the money hasn't been sent. But its not like its anything special. Its only a gs320.. which I would only be getting 255 for. And also I want to move up to hd... as far as glass I have the kit lens, a 28mm prime by nikon and an opteka 6.5mm so they're. Worth like 450 for the prime nd fisheye.

But why t2I and not the 7d? From what I think I hear the video on he t2I is more advanced than the 7d but the 7# shits on it for the photo function (obviously primary use). Like 8fps and a bigger censor. Also tjhe 7d is water resistant which would benice for ski shoots

It all depends on your budget. I assumed it was low so i recommended the t2i but if you got a couple grand laying around get the 7d for sure.

Yeah, i just roughly guessed. If you have the money for the 7d, get it because it takes really good photos too. Honestly, i think photography is less in the body and more in the lenses and the photog. I've seen a rebel xt look fucking amazing compared to someone who doesn't know what they're doing with 5d, all because of the lens/photog.

Have you herd anything about the diferanced between the video of the t2I and the 7d?

I heard the video is at a similar level but like you said the photo aspects of the 7d are better.

well since you dont want a video camera. which is the illest IMO unless you want 35mm look...go with t2i. i have seen footy from both 7d and t2i. and they look quite similar, and if you know what you are doing with either the shots are gonna be dank, but it can go either way. you are upgrading from a gs320 without many manual controls to a video dslr which is almost 100 percent manual i hear, so that might be a rough transistion. may i ask why you have left out other video cameras? like money reasons i would assume? but yeah t2i with lens adapter for your nikon glass. could be dank. unless you want dank photos too like you said they spend extra cash on 7d. what will be the longest term investment for you?

Even with the gs320 I had a 35mm look becaUse I have a diy adapter that I made. And aqbout manual settings. I've been doing photog on my d40 on all manual settings for 3 years and also I've used dvx's and hvx's countless times and figured everything out with it.

But yeah iuts for money reasons. I don't really think that lower camera like the hv30 and so forth can even compare to the video of the t2I and the 7d. I'm equally both into photo and video so the fact that one unit can master both is jutsamazing to me.

I think the only video cam I would wanna get is thee hvx. And I don't really have 4 grand lying around to get a camera. I mean if I were to get a 7d it would be the camera I would have and use all through college

i dont see why you dont just stick with nikon... if you have 4 nikon lenses (assuming they arent shit lenses) why WOULDNT you go for a nikon body? d90 and d300s are both very capable cameras that have video.

cuz the video is so much better on the t2i. it shoots 60fps at 720p. hes filming action sports a lot so its kinda necessary. to be honest, this is a hard quesiton. no video camera pleases to me that much unless like what jack said.. a ton of money. i personally think u should wait til u get ur job and save up for the 7d. if u buy nice, ull never buy twice.

7d = t2i in regards to footage in film. the sensor size is the same 1.6x crop. The main differences are the 7d has kelvin white balance input, 1/3 stop iso, quad vs duo processors (hence 8fps photo) weatherproof body, and a couple more manual features in photo mode than the t2i. Is it worth spending an extra $$$? IMO absolutely not if you are looking to use it for mostly footage. Take that money and invest in a new lens or two (nikon glass+adapter is better IMO than canon, especially with film where you can control the stop manually), a good mike (rhode) or H4N if you are looking for some audio, SD cards (this is an advantage over the 7D imo, cheap, more accessible medium) or a rod/follow focus rig, because autofocus sucks penis on DSLR's in film mode.

Yes all canon hdslrs have the file size cutoff, rolling shutter, more prone to jello and moire (sp?), no XLR imput, no HD output during takes, but for the lens customizability, quality (yea, i fucking love their footage, sue me) and price they really can't be beat. There are ways to work around these things and if you are confident using one, two thumbs up

yes it records AVCHD to SD cards, that cost a fraction of the p2's. But you could also get a 5d Mark II with full frame sensor for the same price

SD cards are a fraction of the price and a fraction of the quality.
