Royal coachman or elk hair caddis

so im getting the fly rod in the water tomorrow for the first time since last like.. august. stopped fishing because i got my car broken into but now i found a new spot thats supposed to be pretty safe..

my problem is i cant decide what to use as my indicator.. elk hair caddis or a royal coachman..

so i leave it up to you NS, choose what i will use to slay them trout tomorrow.. pics!

if you know nothing of fly fishing just say the one you think looks cooler, but if you know a lil something heres some extra info.. its small stream on the stanilaus, CnR only, barbless hooks, all wild trout.  This fly will be my indicator and im gonna be dropping a size 16 beadhead prince nymph

i really hate nymphing.. really just hate it.. and I'm a little confused why you made this thread.. but for an indicator i would go with the caddis cuz thats what all the cool kids are doing..

and you are already picking out your dropper im real confused how you're locked in on using a prince already... or are you just saying thats what you're starting with.. that would make more sense.. anyways man hope you have a good day..

Im a fan of the caddis myself but thats probably because  im better at tying them than the royal coachman and always have more of them in my fly box. Best of luck tomorrow though, I'm jealous, it's still too cold around my house and I cant afford gas to drive anywhere.

Fight of my life brother let me tell ya.

I'll vote for the coachmen, but obviously I have no clue what I'm doing. Yes that's a bluegill, on the front of a playboat, with I don't even know what kind of dryfly in it's mouth. Just waitin for trout season to kick in around here next weekend.

I'd go with the caddis, but for some reason i always hae more luck with the flies that have big wings. But up to you why not take both?

I personally like the royal coachman, just always been a fan, plus the red/orange on it make it easy to see
