No offense to the kid who won the first drop suit and got first prize. but how the fuck did he win when his best trick on the money booter was a pencil three and logan McLure was throwing extremly stylish mute cork 7?  I am thinking its cause logan doesnt go to swain and all the judges know the kid who won.  Also logan won big air , rail jam and definetly should have won slopestyle considering he raped everyone.  PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.  I will post the video of how much better logan did then anyone there.  Honestly i think it was home mountain advantage with the judges.  Once again no disrespect to anyone at swain or the winner because you guys were all actually really cool kids.

First off, none of the judges were from Swain. Before the comp none of the judges had even met the competitors on a conversational basis or even seen them before.
Secondly, Logan had a sick run but Steve was clearly better on the rails than Logan and his spins on the first jump were all perfect with a very tweaked grab.
Logan had a sick Misty 7 but washed out two of the three times and his head went under like a mofo with no mute the 3rd run, the one he landed.
I told him to do a bigger mute because it would equal him out so his head wouldn't be under that far and on his third run he appeared to almost punch front before making the mute.
He clearly won the Big Air with the exact trick we were looking for (head was fine as well as the grab) and also had the win at the rail jam.
I'm sorry man but it's not like we changed the rules half way through the comp to cater to a local winning the overall title.
I'd also like to add that you should have PM'd me before making a huge public thread about this because you knew that multiple judges were on NS as well as myself.

My friend and I went to Swain for the first time ever this weekend. I didn't know any competitors going in, except for one guy (who didn't end up placing in any event).

Saying that -

We were two of the judges at the big air and Logan McClure was the best, hence why he won.

I competed in the slopestyle & rail jam, while my friend with me was one of the judges, and we were both obviously watching everyone and we developed a pretty good knowledge of all of their talents.

Steve deserved the win because he was the most consistent on the rails and had nice grabs on his jumps.

There was no hometown judging, trust me.

And I also quite enjoyed the event.

dude. i was a judge for all three events, never been to swain in my life.

steve clearly in my mind had the most consistently clean and just sick runs. the head issue on the last hit was also a factor in logan not winning the comp.

also keep in mind that we were judging 2 out of the 3 runs, and steve had two very clean, very technical runs. one trick doesn't make the entire run a winner, steve threw down on every feature, and that is why we judged him to be the winner, not because he was a local boy...

just because it is a small local mountain that doesn't mean that everyone knows everyone and is biased to outsiders.

loved this weekend, so much fun, so much snow... Swain is one of my new favorite resorts.

I was also a judge for the Saturday rail jam and slope style.

Logan is a phenomenal skier no doubt.  Like my man said above, it was based on the best of three runs and Steve Schiano had the best run out of the three above Logan. When all the judges collaborated after the slope style event, we were all in agreement that Logan for sure threw the biggest trick over the booter at the end, but with slope style there is more to judge than just one jump or else it would just be a big air comp.  Which Logan already slayed the night before.  Steve Schiano won the first drop suit because overall he had the best placements in all three of the competitions. 

I grew up skiing at Swain and I had absolutely no bias with the 'home town crowd.' 

Logan if you happen to read this, thanks for coming out bro and you are a phenomenal skier, we hope to see you back out at some other competitions this season and in the future.

Yo that video I made was purely out of me being pissed, so not trying to offend anyone cause you were all sweet kids, I didn't wash out twice though? Cause the first run I fell on a mute seven, the second I did a mute three (landed fine), and then I stomped a cork/ misty seven, but really man, even if I didn't get first not placing was bull

not sure if it was the same kid but matts right ben pointed out the kid today at jib academy and the kid did some sick 3s and 7s and im pretty sure threw a cork. And he also said logan should of one but i dont nurr

I didnt mean to sound like i was saying stephen shiano wasnt good cause he obviously did do good (also i did not realize he was 14). and kyle he did not cork but still nice grabs. If the judges had complaints about him being inverted then why did you give him slopestyle 1st and not just DQ him there. And yes stephen if your reading this you did sick today at jib academy. congrats on the top 11.

You flung a shit ton of hate on everyone involved here (including Swain itself) not only by the OP but by the video you made. That is real immature and i think you need to think things through before you react and then get shit on by a ton of people to then go and kiss ass to make up for it.
The trick he did in slopestyle (the 7) was different then the one he did in Big Air. "The same trick" but he did it differently making himself do a very clearly defined flip.
Especially when you put words in my mouth you piss me off directly.
Logan is being the mature one now and your still draggin' ass. So you should catch up.

Just so everyone knows the breakdown was Steve with a 2-3-1 giving him a total of 6 and Logan had a 1-1-6 giving him an 8 so Steve is the winner winner chicken dinner. I made the overall rule and that is why. Yes logan killed it in the rail jam and big air but Steve was the most consistent all weekend giving him the suit. He deserved it. The video; as far as that goes it is actually illegal to post videos of others without permission so that needs to stop.

3) there is no need to cry about sstephen being in the video i bet if he was asked he probably would not give a shit about the video

4) the judges were cool but sucked at judging ( no offense)

5) at jib academy and i quote "how the hell did logan not win the first drop he did soo sick"- stephen shiano

also how did logan come in 6th in the slopestyle. that is the biggest bull shit of all.

4)We've gone over this a million times, he has taken the steps to hear why it went like it went (Logan) so stop bitching for him cause you clearly are

Same as how you are doing all of this on the interweb and none of this was face to face with anyone.

Everyone needs to chill the fuck out. It's a competition at Swain. It really doesn't matter.

That being said, Swain's "no invert" policy/enforcement of said policy is straight bullllshit. A backflip is a flip. A frontflip is a flip. A cork that goes 10 degrees past 90 is still a fucking cork. This shit hurts progression, fucks over deserving kids, and hurts the hill as a whole.

Here's a hint: if you want anyone to take your mountain seriously, don't go after kids for trying to progress their skiing. This is why I got the fuck outta Swain at a young age.

Sorry to be bitter, but it's true.

im curious about this whole flip thing. all the areas around me (kb, holiday, bsc, holimont) dont allow inverts. some of the park guys at kb have told me that its "illegal in nys" but i find that hard to believe. soooo, is it state law, insurance, or just the owners being assholes?

I think here that it's the owners scared to get sued. I really think insurance has to cover it by now. It can't be NYS law cause it's legal at Whiteface and some eastern NY resorts i heard.
I'll ask someone. I know HV doesn't cause i saw a kid get written up last week.
