So my good friend Shanny Cohen went out to snowmass early to train for Aspen Open. Hit the last jump in the line at Snowmass and had a very serious head/ brain injury....please take a minute to read this article of what her experience has been like through a traumatic head injury has been like! So remember everyone WEAR YOUR HELMETS!!! We've lost many people in this sport to such random things and things we do everyday as skiers, It is important that we all support each other.
So i'm still in the process of trying to figure out what exactly happened to me. Right now i'm learning the basics of life again. I'm really struggling with reading out loud but my speech is getting a lot better.
This is info i have from... *Simone Augspurger* Eye witness !
"You tried a switch 540 off the step up and you did a 420 instead on to you head. When I got down to you, you were totally knocked out and your helmet had fallen off. Then you suddenly started sezing and yelling so the coaches came down to help and I left with all the other kids. But your helmet was cracked and you were bleeding and like 8 ski patrolers helped you out."
I DO NOT REMEMBER ANY OF THIS :
When i arrived in the hospital I was screaming and kicking. I ripped out my IV's 3 times and had my arms and legs restrained to the bed 3 times. I then threatened to escape the hospital. They had an alarm put on my bed. They put 3 staples in my head from where i cracked it open. I was put in a neck collar until " i could comply with a clinical exam " and ripped that off 4 times and threw it at the nurses while calling them bitches. They had to inject me non-stop with benzo's and FENTANYL to keep me from attacking the doctors and injuring my self. Big thanks to Tae, Cole, Mike and Aaron for coming to the hospital for hours and Cole for spending the entire day with me. Ash for coming to my hotel and cooking me pasta and a milkshake ! I love you guys and sorry if i was out of control ! ! ! <3
I'm so lucky to be alive.
I will be seeing the doc again in a couple days and will hopefully do better on my impact testing. As of right now i'm allowed to bike for 15 minutes on level 1 and that's all. Resting a lot and trying to stay positive !
I will try and keep updating as soon as I know more.
Thanks for all the love and support. My sponsors especially. BERN UNLIMITED for SAVING my life ! ROXY , and i love the new outfit ! ELECTRIC SKULLCANDY DONJOY THE CANYONS SUREFOOT POW.
