MS Gulch Needs Work

Gotta say I love Nitro to warm up, and I love inferno once I'm warm, but usually Gulch is my go to park for just lapping and dialing new tricks. This year so far its just Meh. I miss the 3 pack of tables, more rails, less unusable sattelites etc. Not feelin the long empty flat that just has the corrugated too. Don't get me wrong, the last jumps are nice but it would be sweet if there were more than 2 jumps. The first one doesnt count as its the flattest landing I've seen in my life, it hurts no matter how deep you go. Lovin nitro and Inferno, but give my medium park some LOVE.

i gotta agree with you the gulch was really nice at the beginning of the year then they had that slopestyle comp on the lower half of the park and it hasn't been as good since I also wanna see the big hand rail back at the top of the park

yea they need to do something about that empty area.  Also they need to fix that first jump bc its either you have to bomb it and the landing is too flat or you hit the nuckle.  if they made another jump where the hip is it would be sick. and put a rail or two after that

I completely agree. I'll start from the top, with my meaningless input. Take it as you will.

The two down rails, not too much you can do there.

Single down rail - It's a sick ass rail, I'm just not a fan of the superpark jump that puts you halfway down it, and the fact that once you're on it, you're about 5 feet off the ground. The slope at that point is too steep for that rail unless you change the trajectory of the rail.

Jump 1 - The landing is more mellow than the takeoffs of the jumps in Inferno. Simply put, it's flat, and it hurts.

Hip - Eh, waste of snow

Satellite Dish - It's on the side of the trail, and it doesn't take up much snow, so I don't really mind it.

Corrugated - It's been there since day 1 and it's very, very lonely. Plus it's not very fun.

400 yards of nothing - self explanatory

Left flat bar - make it higher! It's a fun rail, but it's too low.

Right side flat-down box - No complaints

Left d-f-d - Sketchy, you need to be going .05 mph to see it and hit it effectively.

Right flat-down - No complaints

Left dragon tail rail - Sick

Right flat bar - No complaints

Jumps 2 and 3 - They're really small, especially for a park that's considered "large." They were bigger early season, and significantly bigger last year. Also, if there's going to be 2 takeoffs, don't make the large takeoff straight and the small takeoff point towards the left where people hitting the large side are landing. It's sketchy, especially on weekends when gapers finally figure out where Gulch is.




I meant all of that as constructively as possible. Not calling anyone out, it's just how I feel. Feel free to respond.

Oh and I forgot to add, this rail was super good set up as an urban-on D-F-D last year at the beginning of the park. That'd be nice.

Couldnt agree more, that rail was so money when it was at the top of the park last year, now you cant see it till your getting onto it, and getting on is an art in itself as you have to be going slower than a chopped and screwed biggie remix to get on.  Gulch facelift Please!

yeah the fdf and the handrail should go back up top i loved that layout, the two rails there now are way to short

how about a massive dance floor for the flats?  And as always, MS needs a wallride.  Or even two considerring the amount of other jibs they have.

yeah the DFD is extremely awkward.  like D.Brown said, you have to go really slow to get the full rail.  also, the lip onto it is so weird.  it should be an urban on.  last year's setup on the gulch was sick.  bring the DFD and the big urban down back up top.  the two rails that are up top now, are short and pretty useless.  i also think that the first jump in the park is sketchy.  the landing is flat, and the take off is not poppy enough. 

one more thing, please leave the corrugated though.  i love that feature.

the dfd is suck. a while ago it was set up as a flat up flat which was about 100x nicer. the jumps have been nice recently (but ive been teaching the last 5 days and havent been there yet this week.) the urban is a little sketch to me, but maybe im just being a pussy.

go two years back and thats what gulch needs to be.

dfd box one side, down rail other.

then flat rail with good landing, then jump

then trap rail or flat rial

rainbow rail or flat box

flat down box, flat rail

flat down box/rail

then the down rail thats a circle, put back as a semi up rail. soooo much fun, then into the 2 jumps,

with a dfd rail at the bottom left, and some rails next to the jumps.

 theres also still a good 10 features sitting in the parking lot that look sick, big trap rail sitting there as well that could go in the gap in the middle of the gulch

I say just refer back 1 year to when they had the huge ass up down rail and the big up rail with a nice landing where the hip is now. That was a great fucking setup. Night and day to what it is now

yes gulch does need work...although i do love the shit out of the hip i think it should be taken down and made into the up rail and huge a frame rail once again as ppl have said

the long open space NEEDS! to be filled...nitro is just a clusterfuck of gapers so i never want to be over there except for beginning and ending of the day runs...more things in the long emptiness would be killer...and mix it up a little like when the FUF was in...the feature was real fun

i also think the bottom should be a 3 jump line like last year...it was just soo much fun
i also think the jumps should be made a bit bigger...THEY WERE BIGGER WHEN IT FIRST OPENED THIS YEAR!!!! apologies for caps

and there is just a huge gap in size from gulch to inferno that it makes everything just the tid bit sketchier when going through inferno

ima use that guys template:

Jump 1 - theres no knuckle, landings flat, and the jump goes from 0 to 30 degreese in 2 feet.

Hip - i dont like hips do i cant judge

Satellite Dish - Waste of space.

Corrugated - i actually love it.

They fixed the mid after the hip,  put a  c rail in on the left were the satelite was,  put in a tap bar, then a battleship (from what i remember) and a stall rail  (i guess if you call it that)  so at least they fixed it up,  after the comp on saturday they may have fixed the rails but i didnt check it out

Yea true but its better than having nothing like they had before, hopefully it was just for that weekend.  They prob put all the work into the contest on gulch since the original contest was supposed to be on inferno I think.
