Need help dulling edges!

Tell me if I am completely retarded but I have been told to rub an eraser on the edges of my new skis so I stop catching on rails and boxes. What other ways could i ware in my new edges?

No, no files. Get a stone that is made for this purpose. File cut edges ans leave grooves. A stone just dulls & rounds.

either get the special stone from a shop/online, or just ski for a few days and they will be dull enough to hit rails with.

I hit rails everyday, but still catch on the double barrel when i lean in for a blindside out. Only reason im asking how to dull them faster is were about to urban this epic rail by a damn thats like 150ft and kind of steep. Id rather know i wont catch an edge before i go then just guessing.

If you're gunna hit urban just file those things. Just make sure to file them the right way. Go perpendicularly and don't press that hard. Just roll the file over the edges and do it evenly throughout the edge

Last year  I was so fed up with using a file, I took the skis to my garage and pulled out the grinder and took em nearly off.  Was I happy with my choice?  Yes.  But use a file.

Yeah - it's basically a whet stone, similar to what you sharpen knives, chisels, etc. with.

there was just a post about detuning with this rag stone thing you can find in the painting sections of hardware stores

but yeah dont trip over it, whatever you do to your edges the jibs will even out anyway

ya files are fine.  i have always used a file and then a gummy stone and i have never had a problem.   You arent racing so who gives a fuck if your edges have a few tiny grooves from a file.   And like someone said, rails will fuck your shit up way more then a file. Unless you are retarded and dont know how to use a file.
