On about the 5th day of wearing them, before putting them back in the weird safety storage method I have, I looked down at noticed that the gloss on the nose piece on one side has rubbed away significantly
Huh I thought, I have only worn these sitting in a car for 180 minutes, not skiing or even moving. I do not have an oily face, nor do I have acidic skin. I have never encountered this problem in my life on ANY pair of sunglasses, goggles, etc. I have not worn the Oakleys since then, scared that they would blow up on me or ignite in some terrible fire, you get the idea.
Seeing as they are brand new, I decided to email Oakley. Oakley told me that it was my problem, and that it would be $40.00 to fix. This is an OBVIOUS defect, but I moved on and emailed the owner of the store I bought them from (a legitimate Oakely dealer). He called up his Oakley rep and the rep said that it was wear and tear caused by me.
Wear and tear? In 5 days? on $120 sunglasses? That being said, I am now embarking on a Oakley email/phone call carpet bombing mission. I plan to email/call until I can get to the highest level of management and get this resolved. This is ridiculous IMO. I have been a long supporter of Oakley, but after this experience, I may have to pass on them from now on and give my money to another company.
