Spinning jumps

so i was at my local resort the other day and there were some sick jumps for 3s and 5s but every time i would go to spin it, i would get so nervous and puss out everytime. How do i get over the fear of spinning bigger jumps and just going for it, and stopping the 3s, 5s, 7s(which i want to learn a 7, i can do 3s and 5s on small jumps).

i was in the same situation with you, except i actually HAD spun of biggish (~40 ft, big for my home mountain) jumps before. a couple years ago i could spin 5's on command off those jumps, but last year i completely lost it. i started getting hurt every time i tried, and being really injury prone, i get mentally intimidated a lot. honestly the only thing you have to do is keep telling yourself that as long as you hit the sweetspot of the landing, nothing is gonna hurt (which is for the most part true.) just sack up and go for it

if that doesnt work, try bringing some friends so you need someone to show off too. i know it sounds silly, but it actually works. hell, the other day i tried a backflip on flat ground (not skiing) and landed straight on my neck/head, but i barely felt it. the big mental block is always worse than reality

ya the friend show off thing helps, like im the best at my school and like my school does this ski club thing mondays(sounds lame with all the posers and stuff but its a way to get out) and i have more confidence but still not enough to throw down the spins

u just got to do it, and if ur trying a 5 on like a 50 foot jump, u spin much slower than a 5 on a 20 foot jump

If you don't already, take your ipod out on the mountain with you and blast your favorite song before you go and just go for it, go faster than slowere though, dont case it. And bringin girls you know who shred into the park with you and showin off will defintely help you sack up and do it. Once you do it once, you'll go for it everytime, its just getting that motivation to do it the first time and get the feel for the jump, and the spin.

Do 1s over big jumps until on lock
Do 3s same thing
Add grabs to both
Try a 3 and see if you can throw a one in.
Throw a 5,

etc, etc

speed check twice.
a few straight airs until you can do it without thinking about it (usually 3-5 times for me, depending on the jump)
then 1's until you can do it without thinking about it (shifty 180s seem to help my confidence a lot for moving on to bigger spins)

after that it's just a matter of pumping yourself up and going for it
