Park Crew

I did search bar and didnt find what i was looking for.

Me and a few of my buddies and getting a park crew going at our local hill.  There for, we are meeting with mannagers and other big people from the resort.

You need to look at both Pro's and Con's to the park now, how can it be improved with and WITHOUT new features, anytime someone has an idea, the first thing they think is money and how much is it going to cost.

for instance: maintaining rails, raking jumps, marking jumps and improvements of features to make them more challenging and safe.

You also have to look at other perspectives such as:
who will do it?
when will it happen
why should they have a park crew

you need to plan for every question they will throw at you from any aspect, good or bad.

you need to go in level headed and open minded, and willing to compromise.

Your going to need to know rules about the park and what can and can not be done

There are people hired to be a park attendant.... but ask why they do not go out during the day to make sure the park is safe.


you can draw up different designs and set ups for rails. (management love pictures lol )

explain that by having a park crew it will help keep more jumps in the terran park and off the rest of the hill where other people can get hurt

Ideas that will help you:

group up four people that are dedicated, experienced, respectful, willing, and honest

volunteer your time or work out that you work for a ticket

10am - 12pm and then 4pm to 6pm you have 2 hour shifts that you can seclude time to fixing the park

your def. going to need to cover all aspects of a situation:
who is going to work?
what are you going to be doing?
how are you going to control it?
what are you going to need?
how are you going to stop others from "fixing things"? aka the younger crowed 9-12 year olds

who will be looking over you to make sure it is safe?
what days will this happen?
how frequent will it be maintained?
why you and your friends?
would it be made to fit just your standards?
what would be different?
what's wrong with it now?
do you have experience in maintaining features?

this is what one of the managers im working with on this told me that will help when we have a meeting.

so if you guys could help by answering some of these questions and giving some pro and cons about park crew it would be great. Thanks !

if ou want to start the park crew, you should know the pros and cons yourself.

one major pro i will give you is the additional safety brought to the park. maintenance of jumps, landings, and enforcement of the safety rules, simply makes for a better experience.

well i know pros and cons, but why not hear from ns and expand my knowledge on it there for making me more succesfull , thanks though

i tried talking to the park guy at my mountain the other day and asked if he could make the landings way steeper and he said there were a bunch of rules on how stuff has to be in the park. anyone know where i can find a list of these things? and anyone know if it differs by state/province? i think i might gather some people and go ask to be park crew as well. almost all my friends left because of the park though

im head of the park at my mountain. It is alot different than what you think its going to be. you have to be commited to the park. for instance, i have to write in the park log book multiple times every day. i also want to ski all day so sometimes you have to ditch your friends to go work. and if you get a bunch of powder you have to stay in the park and make sure that all the features stay safe durring the day. you also have to stop skiing in the middle of the day to fix stuff. at first its a sweet job but if your not constanly changing the park around it can get real boring. you also have to be very fexabe on what can be onde in the park..

Ask him if you can see the list. (because there probably isn't one)
If there one, it's probably a resort guideline, and show him examples of other mountains near by or in the same state that don't have the problem you're having. DON'T use Breck or Keystone as an example if you live in Mass. or Penn. or another state that could care less about skiing.
