MARBLE MOUNTAIN -- AS IF INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS WEREN'T ENOUGH TO WORRY ABOUT, PROBLEMS AT THE MARBLE MOUNTAIN SKI RESORT CONTINUE TO PILE UP, CAUSING FURTHER DELAYS IN THE DOWNHILL SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING SEASON. AFTER A ONE-WEEK DELAY DUE TO A LACK OF SNOW, MARBLE MOUNTAIN OFFICIALLY OPENED FOR THE 2009-10 SKI SEASON THIS PAST SATURDAY, HOWEVER OPENING DAY WAS SHORT-LIVED. THE SKI RESORT HAD TO SHUT DOWN ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON WHEN THE MOTOR IN THE NEWFIE BULLET CHAIRLIFT BROKE DOWN. WITH ONLY A FEW RUNS AT THE HILL OPEN ON SATURDAY, THE BULLET WAS THE ONLY CHAIRLIFT IN OPERATION. REPAIRS TO THE LIFT ARE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY, HOWEVER, EVEN WHEN THE BULLET IS READY TO GO BACK INTO SERVICE, IT'S UNLIKELY MARBLE MOUNTAIN WILL BE ABLE TO OPEN. AS WAS THE CASE WHEN THE OPENING OF THE SEASON WAS DELAYED BY A WEEK, HEAVY RAIN AND MILD TEMPERATURES ARE AGAIN TAKING ITS TOLL ON THE ACCUMULATION OF NATURAL AND MANMADE SNOW AT MARBLE. A SPOKESPERSON FOR MARBLE MOUNTAIN SAYS THIS WEEK'S DOUBLE WHAMMY HAS LEFT NO CHOICE BUT TO DELAY THE OPENING OF THE HILL UNTIL AT LEAST FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK, HOWEVER THAT DATE MAY YET AGAIN BE DELAYED SHOULD CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE REGION REMAIN UNCHANGED. A DECISION ON IF AT LEAST SOME RUNS AT MARBLE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING BY FRIDAY WILL BE MADE LATER THIS WEEK.

Cruiser and Jigger were open and became very icy. The park should be open by the weekend, we put up a new flat box and new flat bar, set up as a down rail today. I imagine they will start making snow on more runs soon, but I wouldn't bother making a long trip out unless it storms between now and the weekend.

currently, the park set up is:
Large table with nothing built on it yet
a second table with a large pile of snow for a jump
Third table with a jump set that needs tweaking, and a very nice new flat box
Down rail on the left which is in limbo since it is apparently made of really soft metal
Next on the left is the old C box, ride on, followed by a very short battle ship box or rainbow box option, both with very flat landings
On the right is a pretty good jump set, I would say 15 and 25 feet
At the bottom is a wall ride set up in kind of a hip fashion.

Wednesday morning pre class pow slash was sick!

High speed is on the go, with Musgrave and tower 16 open on that side, and Bonavista, Autobahn, etc. accessible via the struggle.

Yay! RAIN!
The park has a very nice flat box and down rail. There is a 3 jump line which is small, but fun. The landing of the third and largest jump is a bit flat.

congrats nl skiers.....wish i was there for the last hoorah...but an asshole ran a red light and wrote my car off when he hit me....so no more road trips this season. booo. have fun this weekend!
