Alright, im sick and tired of everybody being so uptight about their goddamn labels. im talking about how people are put into their cliques by what fucking clothes they wear. wtf!!!??? who cares. shit, i hang out with what an outsider would consider the 'skate punks.' but a lot of us wear shit that some people would consider preppy clothes. maybe this isnt as strong at my school because we usually buy our stuff in Denver considering theres about two skate shops that sell more clothes than just tshirts. anyways, everybody should just buy what they feel comfortable in. buy what they think looks good on them. just dont not buy it cause the label isnt something one of your friends would say is for the preppy/jock/punk/goth/redneck, whatever! for instance, today i wore an American Eagle rugby shirt, some kahki cargo shorts i found at Target, and my DC's. Its the man (woman) who makes the clothes, not the clothes that make the man!

heh, yeah stuff like that comes from little sweatshops in equador. I hate clothes with labels on them, usually stuff from structure/express doesnt which is good, yet the clothes have great style. If you go to stores like tristan&america, gant, prada, burberry.. stuff like that, those are clothes that people buy for the style without advertising the clothing company. thats what i like.

Yeah I go thrifting, salvation army and all thos stores. I got a 3 piece suit for 11 dollars! The shirts are awesome, I got a K-mArt employee one for 25 cents, I love going to K mart and pretending I work their. I also bought some cross country skis there for 10 dollars. Thrifting is the way to go, no labels just cheap prices!

Thats fucking impressive darryl, it takes a big man to admit to shit like that. I'm happy that your able to recognize. And yeah its pretty fucking idealistic to not support companies like gap cause they use child labour and sweat shops. I'm not down with it at all, i fucking hate it. But these countries are underdeveloped and depend on these sweat shops for money. Look for another solution and think things through.

Well, I pretty much just don't wear/buy anything that uses the name as a selling point and or uses underpaid labor (child or otherwise). I wear a few of the skate brands like Trans9 that are independantly made but mostly I just but totally no-name stuff or I'll spend more and get really durable stuff like dickies or carhart...

what? I have a cheap leather jacket with patches and shit all over it i wear a lot. I wear shirts I get from bands mainly. I wear Dickies/Wrangler all the time, and they last forever and Dickies are American made.

Elabourate on how our refusal to purchase corporate, sweat-shop products, hurts the people? They get treated like slaves no matter what. Basically, i refuse to wear a product that was made by virtually enslaved beings so a manufacturer can make 99.9% profit on their shoes, which as a total cost $2 at most, to make, yet retail for close to $100 in some cases. Somehting not right? Here's an instance where US gvernment, and foreign government need to show some cajoules and stand up for humanity, not eh $$

I don't know what companies use child labor, so I just stick to my instincts. No old navy, nike, or adidas, just skate brands.

c-lo, you have a fucking way with words. and i agree with him. either you people are super idealistic and live in a big urban area or youre just lying. shit, when i go down to denver i only have time to hit up the malls. i always need to buy a bunch of other stuff and go to movies at good theaters, all of this is in one weekend. hell i barely have time to get out of suburban Littleton to go buy music at a good independent record shop. maybe living in a small tourist community does have more drawbacks to urban living. or maybe you guys are just too zealous.

If you wanna get a company to stop making products in other countries, treating their workers poorly, or even to stop child labor, boycotting it wont work. You need to either get a million people to write a letter, or get a HUGE petition, and just get a group of people on there backs. Even K2 makes their CRAP in china and pays workers very little, that's one reason I don't K2 as a company.

yeah gomer i feel ya steamboat is just one big tourist trap. you could just buy cowboy hats, but you gotta, love the people who but a cowboy hat wear it once then dont wear it untill they go back to steamboat. but that must suck going far just to get clothes and good music. i live in Massachusetts and there is a mall or movie theater where ever you go. yeah if you wanna trade ill live in colorado if you want

I'm sorry that my shoes were made by little Lucy, but instead of complaining that Lucy did a bad job of making my shoe I'll buy her shoe cause she made it comfy just for me. And one day when I'm rich and powerful I'll do something about it. But I'm still trying to get threw school for Lucy so one day I can help her and her chick crew to have a better life.

I wear a combo of cheap chain store stuff and lables. If I find something I like and feel comfortable with then I'll buy it (also if its not too expensive!!)

T-lo, K2 was one of the LAST to move their production from the US to overseas. they had to do it, they had no choice. either go out of business or move to where its cheaper. besides, those people in the 'sweatshops' that are getting a paid 2 cents an hour or whatever arent unhappy, usually. thats a good income for them. its their country thats to blame, not the company that desides to create jobs for them.

I buy what fits, is comfortable and what won't eat away at my bank acount. To be completely honnest, I'm not able to help what happends and so if I end up buying something that was made in a sweat shop, yes, it's sad and wrong but I need to wear shoes and clothes. Besides, nike and addisas (sp?) are uncomfortable (as far as my experience goes) and are needlessly expensive.
Meh, I've talked too much today.

personally I look for cheap clothes most of the time. last pair of pants I bought were $8 on sale from $40. the only thing I spend big bucks on are sports equipment. I can't buy something cheap and expect it to perform the same way as quality products. ie. a chevy is not a porsche. And without those sweat shops the people in those countries have no money. I know it is not the best solution, but as far as I know they are not forced to work in those factories. peace

I wear what ever I feel comfortable in. The only brand that I wear a lot of is 'Brody'. They make quality clothes that both look and feel good. Their clothes are fairly well priced, too. Other than that, I do a lot of thrift shop shopping. I love searching through the racks, and looking at all the old stuff. I've made some pretty awesome finds.

My mom buys most of my stuff. I'm not a skater, so I don't buy skate cloths. I'm a biker (mtb) so I wear bike company shite, like Fox.

Dickies? Do they have a website? Bike companies don't make good brawling jackets.
