Anybody else sidelined for the season?

so my story is, i was sleding at the hill, and i was running up the hill, and some kid decided it would be funny to see me fall... HILARIOUS!!!!   threw a crazy carpet under my foot, and i came back and landed on it. Now i'm just getting out of the hospital (5days,luucky me) 6 pins and a plaate and casted for 6 weeks... I had soo much going for me. Joining the reserves, i was 67 days away from my childhood dream. I can't ski for 2 months (docter said i would be in too much pain to even ski this year but said thats the earliest i can put a boot on) and now my life (or so it seems) is over..

So i was wondering if anybody else can't ski this year, and what is your way of dealing with it ?

I am never up for sueing someone personally.  However, in this case he is personally responsible for you being unable to earn a living.  I never thought I would say this, but you need to call yourself a lawyer ASAP before time lapses too much on you and see what is possible.  Don't be greedy and try to backrupt someone's family, but in this case you are definitely owed just in order to live.  Again, if this were a kid falling at a resort and sueing the resort I would be upset, but this is bad.

not quite the same, but two summers ago i was doing some last minute training and laps before my first downhill bike race of the season the next day, and on the last drop of my last run i crashed and broke my femur. it was like the 3rd day i had been riding that year. the doctors told me 6 months before being fully able to ride, but i worked all summer at PT just wanting to get one more ride in that summer. the first 3 weeks i went through the depression stage, and had insomnia because of the pain, and my mom took my oxy because i was getting dependant. life sucked. i couldnt walk, i couldnt leave the house, all my friends were outside riding, and all i could do was lie on my back.Eventually i healed, and i made it for the last day of the season, and that one day was one of the best of my life. i knew that i had gone through so much for that day, and i knew how much energy and pain it took to keep pressing with my physical therapy.

My advice to you is focus on the future. think of how sick it is going to be when you hit your first kicker or rail. once you can walk and have a little more mobility it gets better quickly. work as hard as can in physical therapy. go out, take pics or film, and dont let it get you down. whats done is done, and you can only change the future not the past.

yup, im basically out too, i broke my collarbone in november doing a kfed. no fun.

Im only 2 weeks away from getting back on the slopes which isnt too bad. About 2 months ago i had surgery on my right femur and i was in a wheel chair untill about a week ago. I dont have it nearly as bad as some of you guys but i feel the pain of watching snow fall as i sit in my room playing Cod all weekend

I've deiceded to not sue this kid, becasue well there family are dirt poor, it's christmass, and i don't want to be the asshole who does this and ruins there christmass. It sucks, i know. I'm out a fair amount of money, but i've talked to the people in charge of my course and they said as long as i can walk i can parade with them, and i can make some cash, and then go away in summer. ( witch i didn't want to for the whole summer, but eh it's life, it's an experience.)   My Parents are going to give me some money if i need it. (money i technically should be making)

MIke. armada: i think it was you, but no you do not have to join reserves first, you can go straight to regular force. It's better going reserves, because you can get to know how it operates part time..  and the Canadian army, and U.S army are pretty close toghter in terms of like reserve and then reg (i think)

anyone who posted thanks guys, and anyone who has any ways to pass time i'd be happy to hear..

Ok. cool, I dont really know much about the Canadian forces i just made an educated guess from what my buddy told me. But its always good to learn something from someone else.

holy shit you broke your femur and your recoverys only 2 1/2 months. thats crazy dude. did you get the surgery where they put the rod through the whole thing and then a screw on the top and bottom?

Actually i didnt break my femur. My left leg started growing faster than my left and it got to the point where it was a 2.4 cm difference which meant i either would have gotten a 2cm lift attached to ever pair of shoes i would have worn for the rest of my life to make sure back problems didnt occur. i woulda been wearing em all day everydau too. But no they drilled a pretty good sized hole across the femur and part of the growth plate so my other leg would begin catching up to the other. One more week to see if i can ski, and 2 weeks ago the doctor said the difference in length is only around 1.5 cm and getting smaller!

I don't even know what to do about this irriatated dryfootness, it's making sleep so much more difficult because i can't get comfy because of the dryness, anyone got anytips to get this shit normal ? or am i fucked for 4 more weeks?
