Osgood-Schlatter Disease ( knee pain)

Who has this? Im 16 and I have it in both knees. Its pretty shitty and I do Physio and Acupuncture to help it ( acupuncture works wonders by the way).

Just curious about how many NSers have it and how do you treat it?

ah i have it. it gets so nasty and painful after skiing. worst thing is when you hit the bump on bars under desks. hurts sooo bad.

I have it both knees, and I've had it for about 3 years now. It's getting better, but the big ass bumps will never go away and I can't and won't be able to ever kneel down (without being in loads of pain).

i've never had it, but my "little" brother has had problems with it
it didnt really stop him from playing sports, just really slowed him down on days of long practices

Ive had it for years and its just now starting to go away but I feel you man, hitting the bump on shit is the worst pain ever ae. Way worst than hitting your shins into shit.

i had it for 3 years and i tried tons of different things to get rid of it and the only thing that completely got rid of it was a natural pill called MSM. go to your local natural food and drug store and pick some up brother. you'll be a-ok

ive had it for about 2.5years and its starting to go away

i got it from catching in baseball and even though its going away my knees are week

i cant jump from high places without pain ( i do anyways tho)

in short it sucks big fat hairy monkey ass

I suffered through it for 5 years it sucked. The pains gone but ive got some big bumps haha. I heard it last longer if u do sports. I played soccer and basketball the whole time so i guess that explains the 5 years

I had it for 6 months during track. Just quit all sports. It honestly not worth the pain. The only way for it to get better is to let it heal.

had mone for 2 years and ive just left it alone. im sure its from skateboarding cuz its on the knee that i push with. but like other people have said avoid hitting it on things fuckin kills

i have it! the bumps are the worst part, if you even tap them it cases brutal pain.
i guess if you ice them and such than it can just disappear for some people.

I had that shit for a good 4 years.  It used to hurt so bad after a hard day at the mountain or after any physical activity.  And i agree, hitting the bumps on something solid hurt soooo bad.

doctor-made orthotics. greatest thing ever. it cured by knee pain, my back pain, and foot pain and everything

started for me when i was in like seventh grade. got better in my right knee but my left is still messed up. now they call it "patellar tendonitis". the good thing that came of it thought is that it gave me reason enough to get my medical license in colorado. it really is not nearly as painful as actually having something torn, just kinda nagging. its easy to deal with if youre not a pussy.

i do not have this.

i have jumpers knee pretty bad though. and shin splints all the time. and my calves are wayyyy to tight.

i had it for a few years, and then last year it started to go away. now it dont have it anymore.
idk if this actually does anything, but whenever it hurt, i would ice my knees, and it helped a ton.

When I had it my only option was full leg cast or surgery, part of my left knee is dead in a small spot because lack of circulation. So I opted for the leg cast and got lazy/fat fuck you osgood's. Also I had the bump on my left knee and one day I hit it so hard it just vanished. I'm pretty sure the bump is just a build up of water and shit so its not big deal.

I had surgury last may to fix mine. I had it in one knee and it truly helped it so much. I was on pain killers long term before then didnt need them at all and fixed 90% of the pain, but you need to stretch ice heat and take time and work with it but it will be so much better then it is originally.

i had it pretty bad for a few years, it would peak at points and be not as bad at certain times, but i remember the acute pain and not wanting anything to come anywhere close to me knees. it's been gone for a few years though because it just does that. bumps are still there though.

same hurr. I would just play though the pain. Shit may hurt but its over eventually and i never found it that bad while i was doing the actual activity usually after

I had it when I was little, it's a bitch. Ice it when it's inflamed and depending what type you have stretch your hamstrings it really helps.  I grew out of it after a couple of years but I still have really sensitive sports in my knees I have to cover when I play sport cos if they're hit I go down.  If you can handle the pain don't stop doing anything because  you won't hurt it more.

The time varys greatly.. I have had mine for about 3 years. At first up to a whole year it can hurt just walking and running but eventually the pain goes away but there is still a bump. I have no pain unless i kneel on a hard floor.

yeah i heard about that stuff. i never actually tried it but i had osgood schlatters for about 2 or 3 years i got it in one knee and then got it in the other after a little while

I have it, I find it's aggravated if I squat heavy or do any quad dominant exercises. Not bad during actual running though, just when insane loads are placed on it.

It's a calcification of the Patellar Tuberosity, which is where the patella tendon(major tendon attached to quadripcep) digs into the shin bone. Happens in guys a lot because we grow so quickly and our muscles grow so quickly.
