I emailed em awhile ago with the same question.            Same dimesnsions and all, but one is made like the thall, and one is made like the pipe cleaner.  i don't remember which is which, but one is a stiff, fast, not super durable ski, and one is buttery, soft, and made to last forever.

Alpha 1 = Pipe cleaner core and base, Alpha two = THall/AR6 core and base.
