I am drinking some Sam Adams Winter Lager. It has some

The first thing one notices in a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is its color: the deep brown of winter. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. This beer is SO good. YOu guys (21 and over) should try it.

My own review. Its a nice red beer, great flavor, goes down very smooth. Once it goes down it has a bit of a cinnamon taste. Crisp, cold. just taste great. Not too sure how to give a good beer review. Sorry.

Let me try again...Ok I can taste the Ginger and cinnamon. Kinda thick head. Good balance in taste. A little spicy. Very rich and warming. Dark orange/Copper color.

Lighter beers=bitter water. Srsly, I love dark beers like Sam Adams Boston Lager, Kirin, or a stout of some kind.

I can't stand college drinkers because it is always like this:

"OMFG!!! BUSCH LIGHT (or Natty Ice or Keystone) IM GONNA GET SO DRUNK OFF OF IT!!!!"... You could get just as drunk if you had dark/good beer and would feel less bloated cause you aren't ingesting as much.

yeah light beer tastes like shit. i truly enjoy dark beer but light shit is just nasty and i only ever drink it at parties

natty ice, keystone, pbr, and reddog may be piss water and not as flavorful as your classy beer but when i can get 30 for what you get 12 for the same price, gotta go with the cheaper. plus who wants to play drinking games with heavy beer?

Light beer from a real brewery is good. Light beer like Bud Light, Coors Light etc... taste like armpit...NASTY>....

I drank like 13 Busch Lights at a party on Friday and unfortunately my buddy has a college freshman for a younger brother and they were like
"OMG!!! HOW DRUNK ARE YOU?!?!"
"This shit fucking sucks... you guys are pathetic."

I hate light beer... you need to drink like half a 30 pack to get near drunkenness but get so damn bloated and gassy in the process that it's just miserable.

coors light takes shit to a whole new level. bud light, keystone, and busch all suck but coors is just downright awful, it tastes like someone got a whole bunch of swamp water, ate asparagus, pissed in the water, put it in a can with a fancy blue-turning label, and sold it

Uhhh no.

Let's take a cheap lite beer like Natural Light. Natty has 4.2% alcohol with 95 calories and 3.2g of carbs per 12oz can.

Now let's look at a darker, heavier beer like Sam Adams Boston Lager. It has 4.75% alcohol with 160 calories and 18g of carbs.

So how does a beer with twice the calories and almost 6 times the carbs make you feel less bloated?

I don't feel like drinking as much. With Busch Light and shit I can drink it like water and by the time i get done I am burping every 10 seconds or testing the strength of the stitches in the seat of my pants ever 12 seconds, or both.

Sam Adams is meh.  I like a couple of them, like the Black Lager, but for the amount of money they cost I could get some Arrogant Bastard or something else better.

That still has nothing to do with the amount of alcohol in them. You don't get just as drunk by drinking less dark beer than more lite beer. You just get sleepier and more lethargic because you are overloading your body with carbohydrates.

Panda lets face it. Keystone and others are the cheapest thing around to "get the juices flowin" so that you can present some stupidly cheap liquor that probably could blind you if you drank too much of it. Parties can be expensive, and who is going to provide everyone with 3-4 quality beers?

Not to mention the twist off caps that will be left everywhere, and the possibility for broken glass.

Not trying to rain on your party, but the college system seems pretty well thought out.

Plus you are walking around with a six pack or twelve pack and it "hurts" more to give out one of them then a brew from your dirty thirty. If you had 2-3 people sharing that 12 pack someones gotta lose a brew  in the process. And that last brew could be just what he needs....to save his life.

yeah this thread is pretty interesting. i'm a bit older than the average NS crowd, being 25 now, and i certainly enjoy a good beer. that said, i think winter lager is pretty good, kinda surprising how many people in this thread seem to have never heard of it before. it's not something i'll go buy a case of, but its a good choice for when you're at a bar with a crappy beer selection.

for the "get drunk off cheap beer" crowd, i present to you troegs mad elf. it's not cheap at a little over $10 for a six pack, but that one six pack will get you more drunk than a case of coors light, and it tastes glorious. if you're in the mid atlantic area where troegs is available, i definitely recommend it if you can find it.
