I think Eric Pollard has really good style, but I think many people overexaggerate it. He doesn't do super hard flippy spinny stuff, which makes him seem more stylish, and he doesn't do very complicated or intricate grabs, which also makes it seem like he's more stylish than what people say.

i don't like his at all. his and mike nick's styles look so much skiboarding. tanner and mickael have absolutely the smoothest styles out there..

pollard and nick have only had a couple of video segments and they were both basically the same footage from last year. i don't think it's fair to gudge the difficulty of tricks they can do untill we see more of them. the two both have amazing talent and style and it has nothing to do with the difficulty of their tricks.

Yeah I don't really like Pollard or Nick's style either. Just my opinion. I like Vinnie, Boyd, Tanner's a lot better.

You are an idiot.. saying his tricks aren't hard. What are you 12? Pollard slides anything unnatural, I'd say hes the best skiier on rails even though tanner did the switch 450 on. Plus have you ever tried a flatspin 360? I can promise you its hard as fuck, harder than a d spin. Don't be all ignorant and post stupid shit like this. Plus all youve seen is last years tricks for him, like chris said its too early for you to be a hater.

um when people say pollard does tons of stuff unnatural do they mean he spins to the left to do unnatural, cus he spins right normally (according ot freeskier) or do all you assume it is unnatural just cus he is doing it to the right?

unnatural railslides, other foot forward. and unnaturl spinnign spinning the opposite way you want to. pollard was on blue torch today when they were at mt hood for like 5 seconds. it was cool.

whats wrong with lui kangs? i think they look nicer than everyone elses toxic or tail grabs in a lot of tricks. i just dont like how nick does them so tweaked, kinda like a skiboarder.

I love Luikangs! it's my favorite grab beside the cross tail!
But I'm saying that the Line team have a cool unique luikang style in there rodeos and stuff which makes it look the coolest(better then anybody elses)

Wow casper I'm an idiot, why? Is it because I go against your opinion. Yea I'm 12 in an 18 year old's body who has an engineering grant to go to Vanderbilt University. Shut-it. Hmm to answer your question, yes I've tried flatspin 3's and guess what... I can do them! There are other people at the hills around me that can do them too. I know kids who can do rodeos and flatspin stuff and can't even do 720's. Your criticized me for judging him on last years footy, and then you turn it around and says he's the best on rails, but you've only judged that from last years footy as well.

i respect pollard but the whole no movment in the air doesnt appeal to me. i think belanger has tons of style because he makes his tricks look cool but he isnt necessarily completely still in the air.

Oh yea, and Pollard's flatspin 3 isn't even straight off of a table, it's like a hip into that hill at Windell's or whatever, which makes not as hard.

Pollard is good but I like a lots of other peoples styles over him. But he has great style because he does the smaller tricks like super slow, super smooth 3s with grabs. This is just the whole style vs. diffuculty event. Personally I would take a smaller trick that looks awesome over a harder trick that is good but doesn't look as good. It is all a matter of preference!

I used to be the same way as most other people on this thread 'a hater'. That was before the season and before I met any pros. I met pollard at The Canyons this winter and he was tottally chill. He was doing a photo shoot for Helli Hanson and was killing the rails and floating huge 180's and switch 180's on jumps I was having trouble just clearing. In my opinion I think everyone is entitled to there own style and should be left alone.

gravtck i ski at pns too and im pretty sure who you are and you can not do flat spin 3s the best you can do is an ugly ass slightly off axis 7 that you huck and is ugly as hell. and you going to vanderbilt has nothing to do with being smart about skiing does it? if this was an architectural site then it might matter but shut up you really do suck your style is sooooooo terrible the 7 mutes you do are ugly as hell to why dont you take some pointers from Pollard and work on getting some nice 180s down before you start hucking yourself. Pollard is a sick skier and i wouldnt talk shit to casper till you know who he is im sure he knows more and is better then you

i´ve only seen him in propaganda. i like his rodeos, the way he throws them forward and not back.

other than that i didn´t find his style that special. and he did flap his arm in every single jump! that really destroed my impression of him.

and tannr hall does simpler tricks too. propaganda: flatspin 360, backflip tailgrab, rodeo 5, 360 tail...

So powskier who the hell are you? You're gonna come on here and talk shit about me just cause you have the chance to jump on the bandwagon. Of course you know every trick I can do because everyday I ski you must be there too right? I didn't even do my first flatspin 3's at pns I did them at Paoli during their winter carnival, and the day I did my flat 3's at pns Gavin, Nick and I made a quarter hit out of the table, but ended up just airin it to the other side. I never said Pollard wasn't stylish, I just says I think he gets too much credit. I simply believe that if a handful of other skiers wanted to ski the way he does, they'd be just as stylish. Now for attacking my style, did I actually post that my style is better than eric pollard's, hell no it's not even close. I don't care if you say anything bad about my mute 7's because most of the time they aren't too great, except the one of the last big air we had, but my cork 7's aren't slightly off axis, just talk to goat, norton, or travis and they'll vouch for them.

i don't think there is a lot of hype around him, he just has very smooth, clean, simple style, he deserves more hype than he is getting. he has his head on strait and is heading in the right direction for the sport.

I think Nick deserves all the credit he gets which isnt much most people just bash him 'Oo mike nick is queer cause he skis like a skiboarder, and my penis is too small' mike nick is probubly more devoted to the sport than any other professional freeskier. He works a construction job and runs the siver cartel to help support freeskiing and still finds time to ski. And as far as pollard is concerned, the sport is exploding and the tricks aren't just getting bigger they're getting better and pollard and nick are both making them look better. But still i always hear people hanging on pollards nuts so hard it just gets old. dont get me wrong hes really good, but he doesnt win any comps, which means there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Just because he doesn't win contests doesn't mean he needs lots improvment, (well there is always room for improvments, but thats not the point) The point is tech tricks win contests 180's, 3's and 5's don't, look at all the contests this year, and tech tricks are wining them freesking open is a good example of that.

Truth is: some of you people that are raggin on Pollard then go hangin off the Nuts of Tanner, and Boyd etc. etc. don't realize that those are some of Pollards biggest fans.

Personaly I am a huge fan of Eric due to a number of things. He spins unatural, slides unatural, and doesn't flap his arms like a dying bird. Most of all eveything he does looks unique.

im not saying that pollard's tricks aren't technical, but the whole deal with being a professional skier is that skiing is your profesion so that you make money from it and if your not throwing down your best tricks in the comps your not going to make money. And Pollards best tricks or supposed best tricks aren't near as impressive, although very well executed, as man of the other skiers.

Its not all about the comps... as belanger said in his royalty interview, the kids that are stoked on skiing should realize exposure doesnt come from just competitons but also movies and magazines. and once ppl realize that, the sport will progress int he right way.. personally i think belanger is right on with this.. and i probably slaughtered what he said, but meh it works.

Schwags is right about comps, but so is Nick (smoothbourquien). Right now most of the money in skiing is in comps. A lot of (gosh I hate this word) alternative sports go through this fiscal stage. However eventually skiing is going to rely on vid sections. In the early 90's skateboarding had all its money in comps, but now most of the best skaters don't even compete, save a few well-thought out non X-gamish comps, and they make most of their money from sponsors and vid parts for different companies.

Oh they get paid, JP even said Salomon was cool with him not competing (some Freeze). Sponsors provide for their big time guys, that goes with all freestyle sports, I just meant that the majority of money up for grabs is in comps, but in skating its in video and misc sales, that's because the industry got so large from the capital provided by contests. Basically, comps get the sport on its feet.

The best pro skateboarders don't have to compete because there are 80 billion 12 year old kids that skateboard and their parents buy them an ungodly amount of merchandise from skateboard companies. Skateboarding has such a hallow industry it is only a matter of time before it crashes. A lot of people consider this a good thing. It separates out who is really into it and who is just doing it because it's cool.

Skiing could possibly go that way too. Money in the ski industry comes from parents with money who spends hordes of money on gear for their kids. Mainstream sports exist because of this too, and these sports have been time tested, I don't see skateboarding failing on the market end.

but pollard do flap his arms. it´s confusing that ou say that cuz in propaganda(the only movie i´ve seen him in...) he does wave his arms(more or less) IN EVERY SINGLE JUMP!
if he hadn´t done that i´d probably liked him more. i´m not a fan of his grabbing either. the way he does it seems it´s just to keep his arms from flailing, which they do anyway. he does things different though and that´s nice to see.

Pollard is a step above anyone. SHit just casue he doesn't do d-spin tail grabs like every other person. And yes he spins to the left and if you watch closley he does flatspins, 3's, and rails both ways. And the day you do a zero spin over a 60ft table you'll be in a big name movie too.

Holy shit!( any time harvey leaves, we get into little girl fights about this shit. listen, this is what is going on in the ski industry right now, every pro skier (every one of them!) thinks there needs to be an emphasis on style. but then nobody can follow that because they don't wanna be a poor skier and they want to do good in comps. the real reason Pollard is getting all this attention is because hes the only one doing stuff the way he does it, hes original. if a few more people do it theyll be laughed at and called a poser. if a ton of people take up Pollards style, we could have a new revolution. another thing, i havent noticed a style debate like this in any other action sport aside from snowboarding (kinda.) is there a period like this in skateboarding that i dont know about? Surfing, etc?

i dont think that if people followed pollard by putting more emphizis(sp?) on style that they would be posers because everyone has diffrent styles. and actually there are alot of guys who put more into their style then caring about winning comps such as deschenaux.

so yea.. pollard does have a sick style.. and i cant wait to see some big mountain heli-skiing in Norge in next year's videos. it will prove to people that the skiers sponsered by LINE know how to actally ski too!
