Afterbang and people taking it to serious.

I searched barred and there was nothing really about this.
So i posted an edit, and people hated on it becuase they said the after bang was bad.
People need to realize there is more to skiing than after bang, and landing with your hands to your side is just keeping it from looking flailed out. Has afterbang really turned in to an expected thing in skiing? to where if there isnt after bang than the skiing isnt good? in my personal opinion people need to calm down and realize that not everyone afterbangs, and the people who started it do it as a joke.

the stupid thing is letting it get to you. afterbanging is one thing but if it was a clean landing should always be part of deciding how good a trick was.

In that edited people were saying that your afterbang was bad because you were forcing it and basically ruining the whole trick by looking like a dumbass on your landings. Nobody would have hated on your afterbang if you just hadn't done it. They weren't saying that if you don't do it the trick doesn't look good, if you try it and look retarded it doesn't look good.

Each person has their own opionion toward afterbang. My friends think its wack, I think its cool. I'm sure we could all critique each persons afterbang, but honestly who cares. If thats what they wanna do let em do it.

Your "afterbang" looked really forced in that edit.
Me, I personally don't afterbang, I more just ride away with proportionally the right style to the trick.  I do often claim my tricks, especially if I just stomped one for the first time.

Well here's the thing. You had good tricks, but no you would not land with your hands to your side, you were "all flailed out". Instead you would pull them to your side as fast and as hard as you could making it seem as if you were trying to flex, and it made everything look like shit. It was nearly impossible not to notice so naturally people would comment on it. Also, from what I could tell in that edit you were not joking about it. You may claim you were, but down deep you know you were not joking.

personally i only afterbang when im trying to joke around. whenever i am skiing seriously i usually just try to land clean but not afterbang... also you trying to say that people think afterbang is the only thing that makes a skier good, you are dead wrong. Look at Will Wesson... do you think that the most of the NS'ers would say he is a bad skier? He doesn't afterbang and he is a sick as fuck skier. So I would say No it is getting a little out of hand but not completely

afterbang is the stupidest fad in skiing there has ever been. it started as a joke in a snowboard movie a few years back and all the 14 year old park rats take it way too seriously and think they're hot shit because they are just like tom wallisch when in reality they actually are awful at skiing and suck at life. afterbang needs to die now

if u afterbang the right way without bonering it out and lookin like a retard i think it can take what was once a really clean trick and just give a bit more of a steezy ass ride away wich i think looks sick as hell but everyone has a different stlye and there should be no hate on people wether they afterbang or not be cause either way we are all part of the same community

Wait, skiing is serious?  This thread is pretty frivolous, but so are most all threads on NS.  Like that other dude said, afterbanging started as a joke, and it still kind of is.  Watch Traveling Circus when Andy is trying to learn him some afterbang, they're all just joking around having a good time.  They may not realize it, or maybe they do, but of course every kid is going to emmulate them and think it's the 'next big thing' that's going to 'take their skiing to the next level.'  Afterbang, unfortunately, is just a name that's been given to landing cleanly.
