volkl's karma ('05)

i was in a shop yesterday and they had the 05 catalog and the v pro wasn't there. it was replaced by a little wider ski called the karma. the grafics look pretty sick.

does any one know if there were any changes beside width?

the top sheet is like griptape-ish, it's a bit stiffer than the v-pro
and it has this weird featre, on the edge of the top sheet, there is no top sheet, like it's a little lower and just metal(i donno if i explained that well)
it's a solid ski..i can try to get some pictures of it more up close if i can steal some for a moment

search the news for 05 skis they are a little wider then v pro's probaly around 1080 dimensions

there are like little strips that go up the sides of the ski where there isn;t a top sheet, it doesn;t go all the way to the tip

sumone that knows how to post pictures in the forum post them up there. they have a metal layer inder the top sheet, and ultra thick edges. should be sick.

Oh yeah, and as far as dimension go.....
-177cm
-119-87-111
-full twin tip
-sidewall construction
-sensorwood core
-titanal metal layer under the topsheet
-double thick base for rail durability
-grip tapish top sheet (like a skate deck)
and they come in 169, 177, and 185 .... form what i hear, and each length has different colors.

How do you figure? The V-Pros have always been sick, as have the Explosives (esp. the 02 ones). They went from good to better.

i saw those in my boss's catalog right after the sia show and they look pretty dope. I like the dimensions so i was thinkin of proformin a pair for next year.

First off, you never want metal in a jib ski, it'll bend!
Second, there is WAY too much tip, and not enough tail to make that ski a true contender.
The bigger companies have to stop building the same skis and just turning up the tails, and actually build a true twin designed for us!

volkl know how to make twin tips, they have proven this with the v-pro, so why would the karma be a ski that was not designed for park riders? the metal edge on the top is one of hte best ideas for a park ski, no more cutting up your topsheet and sidewall with your edges when doing crosses. being a volkl ski, i'm sure they ski amazing out of hte park as well as in the park. wide and stable, i think i'm going to pick up a pair. sick ski.

The metal in the ski is not a full layer underneath the top sheet. i'm pretty sure it is only a small layer of titanal at the edges of the top sheet to protect the ski against the edges during crosses, etc... the the metal really is just the same as the edges on the base. i wouldn't worry about it bending.

the demension are:
119-87-111 for all sizes

the list price is some where around $600 i think, but most shops will sell for around $500 USD

i bought my v-pros at the volkl reps tag sale. 250 bones brand new. they are great skis, hold up well. they have been beaten. yeah they're scratched but no serious damage done.
