You should have your shop check your bindings to make sure that the numbers correspond with the actual force required to release, but if you know your bindings are good then I dont see why not.

Usually my shop puts my skis at like 7 or 8, and I ride like 9-10 so I crank it up a bit. Its really easy

If you have to ask, you should probably let the ski shop do it. Having your DINs set to the wrong setting can be kinda dangerous.

No theyre not, for freestyle skiing DIN is a personal choice rather than an exact number for everyone. Just because you have the same height and weight doesnt mean you should have the same DIN because you might be hitting different shit.

That said, it wont hurt to do it yourself as long as you dont go overboard. Start at 4 or 5 and turn it up if you find that you need to after riding for a bit.

when i get my skis mount they set them to like 7 or 8 then when i feel like i need to turn them up i do it on my own

I've had enough experience on my current bindings to know what I'm comfortable skiing them at. I generally tinker around with the DIN settings, but I'm pretty cautious about making any big changes.

If you've been shown how to do it and understand the possible risks you could be placing on yourself, then it's a good skill to have. Don't just crank your DIN up because all the cool kids ride at 12 and you're at 7.

The ski shop DIN tables are only rough guidelines. You should really be able to fell for yourself what your DIN should be, if it releases too easily, crank it up a small amount, and keeping doing this until you find the perfect DIN to match your weight, height, riding style, etc.

I don't but it just so happens that I like to ride DIN 8 and I'm pretty heavy so when they do it at the shop my suggested DIN comes out at 8 anyway.
