pros
- awesome quality. rich colors, big res, overall sick looking shots if u know what ur doing
- small. not much bigger than most consumer cams so its easy to take with you, throw in jacket pocket, stuff.
-decent controls. you have program mode, shutter priority, app priority, cine mode and presets to chose from. style options lets you change contrast, sharpness, saturation, and brightness, but just a bump in either direction. exposure control, custom white ballence...
-60i, 30p, 24p. cause your getting the 40, you get 24p that isnt a bitch to edit, but i rarely use it. i use 60i if its goin on a dvd and 30p if its goin on the interwebs
-cheap
-tapes are cheap
-big community of hv users at hv20.com
cons
lack of full manual control. not being able to control shutter and aperature at the same time isnt a big deal, just change the exposure. what sucks is not being able to turn off gain. theres a way around it, but its kinda annoying
-no lanc. that means you cant plug a remote in
-tapes are annoying to capture
-no handle, u have to build one
-no focus ring, you need to buy a mfr
