dude, LOTR shouldnt of sweeped. animation/special effects... yes; costumes... yes; but best picture... NO! Lord of the Rings has by far the best special effects/computer animation/costumes i have ever seen... but It should of been Mystic River by far, that movie is the best movie i have ever seen... And if Mystic River didnt win, Lost In Translation should of...Bill Murray is a geneous... atleast the trilogy is over, so now some good movies will win...

If mystic river was the best thing you've ever seen I beg of you to see a few more movies, because....no. Good movie, one of the best in a particular year, but the best movie EVER? FUCK no. I'd argue the same for ROTK simply on the grounds taht I see all three movies as one big long movie, which is how the story was meant to be old, and I still had issues with it, though not as many as with the first 2.

The first two movies of the LOTR, were completley over looked in the last two years, they all were top contenders for best picture. but this year, since they didn't get recognized in the last two years, ROTK deserved to win.
