Binding Help

I need help picking my bindings... I know people get mad on here sometimes when people ask this, but I have read the "what binding sticky" (was very informative) and searched thoroughly through lot of other threads.

Im 6'1" 175-180 pounds. I ski about 75% all mountain, pow, groomers, etc. and 25% park, I live on the west coast so those numbers depend on the day and how much snow. The binding are to be mounted on 08/09 Line Blend 178.

I think I'm set on a 12 din binding, and am leaning more towards rossi/look/dynastar but there are so many to choose from. I've considered griffons but you'll have to put up a good arguement for me to change my mind on the first three.

My main questions are:

Out of the three rossi/look/dynastar, is there a specific 12 din that stands out as being the best. I realize they are all basically structurally the same, but I am leaning most towards rossignol SAS2 120's and it seems no one around here has much to say about them, but tons of people have look px12 jib?

Is the titanium heel piece really a big thing to factor here? The weight isn't the issue for me, but is the strength significantly greater in Ti than plastic or whatever non titanium model?

I have a pair of the rossignol SAS2 120 being held right now for me, is there a better binding out there for me, with something like titanium heel piece or anything else I havent thought of?

Please help, I need to make up my mind in the next two days. Thanks.

i would say go for the titanium heel oeice. i have seen a couple plastic peices on here that have broken. plus your a pretty good sized dude.

I dont know much about bindings but ill try to help u the best i can. If i were to reccomend bindingsfor someone who does a lot of mountain, and a good amount of park then id reccomened the Salomon STH 16. They're good for more advanced skiiers hold up really well on rails and jumps but are great for all mountain. They're also really light. Im sorry if this wasnt wat ur looking for ill try and research some more good bindings for u.

Ok i did some fast research on the rossignol SAS2 120, they seem like a good binding overall, they have a great shock and good abosorbtion, the only downside was they were kind of heavy. But it seems like they'd be better for an east coast skier. They were supposedly best in the park and in icy conditions which seems like east coast stuff. If i lived on the west coast I'd probably go for another binding but it's your choice. Good luck

Thanks for the input on something different than what I listed. They are nice but why are they better than rossi/look/dynastar? They're also a little more expensive.

I was looking at the Rossi SAS2 Ti 140, they have a pretty low begining din range of 4-14.
Would those be a better pick than the  rossi  120s which are not Ti?

Or is there something even better yet that I'm missing?

I dont know if they're better or not i was just giving u options on some bindings that i liked and that i thought would be good for where your skiing, its all up to u for wat u get.

I've had a few pairs of the PX 12 and never had a problem. If you're not extremely aggressive, they should be fine. If you can find a good deal on the SAS 140, though, I would go with those.

Is there any difference in a 3-12 din range binding set to 8, and a 4-14 din range binding set to 8?

no, and any of the bindings you've mentioned will be fine for what your looking for.

I've kind of narrowed it down to Look PX 12 Ti JIB, or Rossignol SAS2 140 Ti

The Look have the sliding AFD, rossi's dont. Do they both have the same elastic travel? Is there anything else I have missed... Help me decide please

Out of interest why do you feel you need a DIN of 12 when you are skiing mostly pow/groomers?  I'm not hucking massive jumps or anything, but I do 75% park and get away with 8 just fine.  I weigh more than you too.  And I have cheapy bindings.

I have mine typically set at 8-9. If thats what your asking? Or are you saying I should get one with a lower max DIN :S

My bad, I read "12 DIN binding" as "I set my DIN to 12".

Oh and BTW, I bought Marker Free 12's.  They are shitty, after one season they are starting to sort of crack and fall apart a little, and I snapped the brakes off them a couple times.  However, they took me through a whole season, and will probably get me through another half if not whole one, and they cost like, $100 or something, and once they break you can warrenty them anyway.  Just a thought, if you aren't hitting 40ft tables or hucking 30ft cliffs, you don't really need to spend that much on bindings.

I actually had a pair on my last pair of nordica ignitions. They weren't great but I guess I didn't have any problems with them. I just have money right now and can afforrd to get some nice safe bindings..
