This was posted on level one forums. I dont know what to say. So sad.


'So I am talkin to my bud at Union College today and he is tellin me how they dragged this body out of a room above him at school. Tells me that I might know the kid. It's Jeremy April. Just thought I would throw it up and let you guys know cuz...well...lets face it we are the only ones who check this forum.

It unfortunately is true...Rory was the original poster over on the Level 1 site. I believe he actually committed suicide which is a true shame.

Jeremy April was a freestyle skier from New Jersey, that skied outof Mount Snow. I skied with him and coached him in the past 8 years. He was just given a spot on the US freestyle C team for Aerials. He was a fantastic freerider and had some scenes in Berman's Balance. He was doing inverts in the pipe back in 97'. A true innovative skier. He had a unbelievable knack fot the air. He was at union coolege in his freshman year. He left a 5 page letter about how unhappy he was. From my understanding he took a large amount of pills and was found dead monday morning in his dorm room. This is a true loss to the freestyle/freeskiing community. He was only 19 and had a long life of hucking ahead of him amoung other things. He was in the honor programs at Union College for math as well. He will be truly missed by a huge number of skiers, friends and family. Take note my friends, nothing is ever that bad! You always have the sport you love. He commited suicide.

My condolences to family and friends of Jeremy, I know how it is to loose a close friend.

This is bullshit. I knew Jeremy VERY well, used to ski acro against him back in Bs, skied moguls with him at the Jr National level, and evel got my ass kicked by him when I tried to do inverted aerials. But this is BULLSHIT...he took his own life. I feel bad for those around him. How do you think his little brother Jeff feels? His mother had been in the hospital for a while. How do you think this makes her feel? Is this good motivation to get from your own SON?! FUCK THAT. I miss the kid already, but the fact that he took his own life is selfish.

Call me a bad person, call me insensitive, but I weep for his family and friends.
I wish I could have been there for him...

dude, read the letter he let to his familly....
those things are sad when they happen, but we are not fealing what he was fealing so we cannot really judge him...
If he did take his own life, it must have been because he tought that there was no other way....

anyway, RIP jeremy and my tought goes to his familly and friends

where is the letter? I feel really sorry that he felt so bad that he would take his own life, but when you think about it, it is selfish, everything rodeonexis said was true. I dont mean to hurt any one who was close to him by saying this and my prayers will be with you.

don't read the fucking letter. it wasn't written to you, or anyone else outside his family. I'm glad they took it off the Mt. Snow web site. I guess privacy is pissed on these days, even after death.

My heart goes out to the family. Even though i didnt know jeremy personally i still feel like this hit me because he was involved in something that we all love, weather you didnt know jeremy or you did i think everyone is afected by his death. RIP bro you wont be forgotten in the freesking world.

First off his father posted it on the mountsnow website... so obviously he wanted to know how Jeremy felt. I was at the funeral and it was amazing the support his family had from the freestyle community. They buried him in the 2002-2003 Us freestyle uniform. He had just beaten the gut that got the gold in the olympics is aerials at the beginning of the season too. He had so much damn potential. I just am having a hard time with the decision he made. Sorry for the rambling.

Man, I hate hearing about shit like this....every time I hear about a skier die, I feel as though I've lost a friend....I fuckin hate it. If he killed himself, there must have been a damn good reason, even though there is no justification for suicide. Fuck man, I would have given everything I own to have the oppertunities he had.
Well dude, see you on the other side, maybe we'll rip in ski heaven...and that's what skiing is, it is the reason of my existence, it will be in heaven, no doubt in my mind.

I hadn't heard of Jeremy April until today but he sounded like a great, smart person with lots of loving family and friends. My heart goes out to them. Always know that life can't be bad enough to do this.
