COLLEGE CAN SUCK

After enjoying myself for the entire first half of the semester here at Bates College, I woke up yesterday morning and realized that I hadn't done a SINGLE bit of work for the past 2 months. It is now 6:15 the following morning and I have studied for 22 straight hours of hell. Thanks to a healthy combination of Ritalin and fat Corona DeLuxes I managed to stay sane, but if any of you are planning on going to college next year do yourself a favor and take a break for a while. Peace.

that sucks dude. i thought i had a bad week with 3 midterms, but thats really the most work i have to do, my program is just tests, we have 3 tests, no assignments or anything. and we get to bring in study notes for those tests. hehe.

I'll never make it through college. I am still in high school and I haven't gone to classes for three days (except video tech haha) and my sister says I am starting to talk about the modern evolution theory in my sleep.

My best advice is to wait until you are ready. There is alot of pressure from parents and society to go right after highschool, but alot of people arent ready. Then they end up failing all of their classes, throwing away a few g's and then they have to dig themselves out of the hole that they created. I started going to school this year and im 21. I have a 3.5 gpa, and although it is stressful, I really enjoy it.

yea I agree. This is my third year of college, and some semesters were better than others. Right now I only have 12 credits (4classes) which makes life easier. I go skiing on the weekends, not during the weeks which kind of sux, but i still get to ski enough for me. I let my body rest during the week and heal up.
The only thing that has been pissing me off about the college I attend is the girls here are real ignorant. There is not much of a ski scene around here (I go to a mountain 3 hrs away on the weekends and get the fuck out of town, a way better mountain than the local mountain.) There is hardly any snow, and the girls just have no idea about the sport of skiing. They would rather be with the football players or lacrosse players, fuck those fags!!!
Ah well, Im working on getting a crew together but there is a lack of skiers.

Yea college sucks a lot. But you cant beat going out after a long day of skiing and getting trashed. I mean I goto college in PA and all I have to keep me sane right now is skiing cuz I goto a branch of PSU and there is no nightlight practically. No one really goes out, so thats why Im transfering to umass next year I cant fuckin wait!

likewise, mr. downey sir. I go to UVic... and all I've done this semester is written 2 midterms which I didn't study for, and gained many, many days skiing in washington state and at whistler every weekend (and I live on a freakin ISLAND!) Anywhoo, I now have tendonitis in both legs thanks to the skiing, and three papers due in the next week and a half. greeeaaaatttt. but once those are done, the tendonitis will be better and I'm back on the slopes every weekend again!

yeah i go to brock u and i was up til 3.30 am doing a urban geography assignment that was due at 9am today.... webct froze and i couldnt get the last bonus question.. so i had to get up at like 7am to finish it! on top of that.... my printer ran out of ink and i had to use computer commons ... it was SUPER.

The first two years sucked for me and my friends. Profs seem to be trying to weed out the group. I am now in my fourth year and it rocks. I only have classes tues, wed, thursday, never before 11 and i am done with all my shit by 5pm. I get projects now and no silly shit work. I haven't taken a stupid scantron examn in the past 3 semesters. Stick it out and you will find that the upper lever courses are awsome. the profs see you as smart and actually seem to care.

i am in my first year and i really wish i had taken a year off before going to school. when you are use to screwing around in high school and not doing any work then you try to go to a university it is really hard to try and change your study habits. last week i had two mid terms on the same day that i din't know about. my advice go to class.

OMG. Im nearly down my 1st year of uni. I cant really complain I had 15 credits 1st semester and this one i only have 12 (4 classes) 6 hrs mon and wendesday and the rest of the week im free to do whatever i want... its awesome. But ya college/uni really is about keeping on top of ur work and if ur not really going for super grades then u can get everything done that u want.. if not then ur screwed.
I remeber during orientation week I was talking to one of the 3rd year students and she told me not to antcipate a lot of free time to ski or horse back ride or do anyting but school work, but i found its all about keeping a balance in ur life. Know ur own habits, like mine I get NO work done after 1130 at night regardless, and I get no work done after a full day of classes. Uni/college is all about knowing ur personal boundaries and what u want out of the experience.

I start 10:30 at teh earliest and get out at 2:30pm every day. its quite nice.

most of the people I know who took a year off after highschool are still dragging around on their asses, trying to get away from our hometown but still not wanting to go to school. it seems damn depressing, and I know that I'm getting somewhere in life.

ps. C's get degrees. A wise old uni graduate told me that once.

yeah i can see how taking off a year between high school college could potential screw you over bigtime. It obviously depends on the person, but after doing nothing for a year, you lose most if not all of your study habits, and now you have to go to college. Doesnt sound like a good deal at all.
