Questions about Apple Bootcamp

Yes, I searchbarred, there's 2 (unhelpful and outdated) threads on this, but not what I need.

For work, I have to do training applications online and the particular site/application through that site only works with Windows and Microsoft Internet explorer 5 or higher.

I have a Macbook. Going to the library to do that shit is a huge inconvenience and a pain.


A few questions...
1.) How difficult and costly is it to install and operate Apple Boot camp? I believe it's free but I'm not sure.

2.) If i go through the process of doing it, do you guys with experience using it, think that it would be able to run this website I need to use that requires Windows and I.E. 5 or higher?

3.) How do I go about putting it on my macbook?

Thank you in advance, maximum karma will be given. This causes me so much shit and is such a huge pain, please help me if you can.

IF anybody has bootcamp already - the site i'm trying to use is http://training.passperfect.com/web/
if you can get the login screen to come up, that's what i'd be looking to hear.

now, im not at all well phrased in macs and such, but is it possible to download internet explorer (just the browser) for mac?

you know, i feel dumb for not trying this. I'll try now and report back in a few minutes.


also, after reading the manual ( http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/boot_camp_install-setup.pdf ) it just seems like a ton of work. So if anybody has done it and its not as awful as it looks, let me know.

Ok, it didn't work. It popped up the same Error message saying I need Microsoft Windows with IE 5.02 or above.

try googleing "internet explorer for mac download" and see what comes up

yeah i mean i was able to download IE and everything and run it but it still popped up the same error message.

and allen, after reading the manual it said I need a windows OS disk as well, in addition to everything else. Have you done this and found that it wasn't all that much work to do? I'm at the end of my rope so I may say fuck it and go for it, I just don't want to screw anything up with my existing OS (OS X 10.5.8)

literally is the easiest thing to do.

steps:
1) get windows xp,vista,7, doesnt matter which
2) go to applications > utilities > boot camp assistant
3) open it up.
4) read instructions.
5) resize main hard drive so you have enough space for the windows install
6) install.
7) ..
8) profit?

ok last question, do i need a disk for step 1, or can i just find a free version or something online of the Windows OS?

its very easy, as said above all you need is a windows install disk and you can get it up and running in an hour or so
