What din does Twall rides?

:-D, but serious.

When i read around here ppl are telling about them riding dins of 10/12/14 wat ever. Im wondering why this high? Could someone enlighten me abit more about din setting.


Now today got me wondering, I was riding the downbar(flat iron). So this one time when i started scissoring my back ski (right) seemed to be hooking on something and popped off like it was nothing.

Then later this evening i was doing 3s over this small gapjump like 3m. I was spinning to the left but only got around 3/4, landing totally horizontal with my ski. Causing my edge to dig in, and me going in my knees (witch ended in a big pop) & my boot staying in the binding. I find it weird the boot diddnt pop out this time
Im 6,2 and 176 ish. and i ride an din of 7,5/8. I was advised this would bee good din, it diddnt seemed high but this got me wondering.

i think a lot of kids on here like to set their dins high because they think its cool.  i have heard of people on here thinking they need 916s and they weigh 140lbs.  that is absolutely ridiculous.  i actually like to come out of my bindings when i need to, i would much rather wreck than ruin my knee for good.

but basically it depends on your height, weight, and boot sole.  like two identical people in height and weight if they have a different boot sole would be a different din.  if you have a shorter boot you need a higher din and vice versa. 

so just leave your bindings at what they were when they were mounted and adjust them if you feel you come out too much.  but make sure that you check your forward pressure as well because if it is too loose it can make your boot come out even at very high din settings.

just dont overdo it because if you blow out your knee you will be pissed

 I'm 190lb's and I ride at 8, only time I have ejection problems is on those ribbed PVC pipe jibs, but on those I have a lot of problems.

Who cares what other people ride?  Find out what works best for you, if they pre release at a low din put them up.

Well i certainly do not care what others ride but wonder what there motives are.
I find the 2 situations weird and wonder why the binding dinnt pop the second time, would have saved me some pain!

I may have missed it, but what bindings?   I skied a 12 on Marker(m12.0s) and popped out every cliff I DIDN'T land backseat on, on rails, and on jump landings all the time.  On Tyrolias, I can ski a lower din, and only come out when I should, I have NEVER pre-released from a Tyrolia.  Personally, I ski a 9 on my PCs with Peaks on them(although haven't had a ton of time on the yet) because on most "falls"(failed tricks) I don't need my skis to come off(as in I can land terribly, but can have my skis across the slope and stop myself) and I found around this din doesn't come off in those cases, and does when I have a fall that I do want my skis off on.  FKS 155s at the same din as tyrolias occasionally came off(heel) when I would be making large turns in crud leaning forward(at 8.5).  Dukes have been fine, haven't had a ton of time on them.  I weigh 160lbs.

Bumping up your Dins aren't going to make you ride better. Your increasing you risk of knee injury if you go higher than reccommended. That's why shops always make you sign waivers when they set your dins.

Well, the standard markers have the biotech and biometric toes, which are REALLY soft, and release a lot. Also, when you max out a bindings the chances of releasing are more common than if you would be in the middle of a range. For marker, i used the griffon (12 max) and was close to the top 11 setting, therefore i changed to jesters (16 max). In rossignol I ride and 8 setting so have a Pro 120 (12 max), its all about finding the right range for you My stats are 21 yrs old 5'9", 150 lbs, type 3+, 306 BSL

On a new pair of bindings I will ride them at the suggested setting , 8 for me. After skiing them over time i get a feel if they come off too much or feel right. On average I leave my park skis at 8 as there are times l come down in awkward postions and want them to release. My fat skis I ride between 10 or 11 depending on the binding as I end up in situations where losing a ski is worse that having it stay on. Its pretty dangerous to crank them up if you don't know what you are doing especially if you are riding primarily park.

I'm 170lbs and ride at a 12 mostly because i hate ejecting on switch landings. It really depends on what you're doing

depends how hard you charge, i am 5' 8" and 145 pounds but i ski my binding at like 11 because when i am doing 80 foot tables my bindings come off, but it is up to you

well im 117 and i ride a din 9 just because thats what im used to. they come out when they need to and stay on when i want them too. perfectt

im 5 10, 150 and i ride a din of 9

i used higher din when i raced, but seriously as long as you dont fall out like crazy theres no need for 18 din bindings

what the hell of course you should care what din other people ride. if they are a similar height and weight to yourself then it could lead to the end of all your pre-ejectulation problems

You know it's fine to have different dins on the toe and heel too, right. 9 on the toe, 11/12 on the heel. Or whatever combo you feel works the best. That way you can release with twisting forces and stay in for switch landings and generally gnarly landings.

Im 5'4 and about 100lbs.  My dins at 6, but on my Hellbents i pop out really easily  if i am skiing hard.  If your dins to low, then you can pop out when your skiing super fast whenever you dont want to.  This can seriously fuck you up. If its to high, then they dont pop on super hard crashes. I would probably have yours at 8 to 9 depending on how hard you ski, what you ski (big cliffs, park, powder, ect).
