Girls All Mountain Ski

Was wondering if I could get some help about some girls skis for my girlfriend. She needs an all mountain do it all sorta sk,i for a season in Canada. She is about 5,6 115lbs and a beginner in terms of NS level skills :P . Were from the UK so luckily can get hold of some older models to save money although I dont know a lot about girls skis or generally what size she should have.

Here is a shortlist that I can get hold of whilst saving a bit of money.

Line Afterbang 166 - Not enough all mountain?
Line Anthem 171 (various years) - is 171 too big lines ski kinda short or is 161 better?
Line Celebrity 172 or 158 (various years) - seems like a really good ski but the 166 is full price
07/08 Line Shadow 167  - Again not enough all mountain maybe?
07/08 Amplid Township 162 -  Too short? Not enough all mountain?
Armada ARW 161 (07/08) or 166 (06/07) - Is the 161 too short and is there any differnce between the years build quality etc ( its armarda im guessing not )
06/07 K2 Fujatives 169 - K2 run pretty long is 169 too big
08/09 Kung Fujas 169 - same as above
K2 Silencers/Missconducts 159 - Not enough all mountain - pretty crappy skis from what Iv heard
06/07 K2 Nancy 169 - Sounds good but again possibly too big
09/10 Atomic She Devils 164 - Sounds good but only 81 in the waist
07/08 Rossi Scratch Girl BC 160 - Too short?
07/08 Rossi Scratch BC 171 - Too wide and long?

I know a lot of nooby questions but would be great to get some help especially from girls who have perhaps skied these skis. 5ft 6 is about 167cm but being a beginner she could go shorter from what im guessing and being lighter. Also is low 80s too little for all mountain for a girl being lighter etc?

Personally i think the better options are:

Anthem
Celebrity
ARW
Nancy
She Devil
Scratch Girl BC

Dusnt really narrow it down I know but I put the others in just in case, any info on any of the skis above would be really helpfull. Thanks. Peace

Cant really there not stocked over here, can buy pretty much anything when in Canada but from past experience its hard to get last seasons models in order to save monies. Plus exchange rate is pretty pants since the recession.

Also can probably stretch to 08/09 ARW in a 165

Have you looked at the K2 MissDemeanors at all? I don't know if you can get those for her because they're not on your list, but I've skiied them for a few years and they're sickk. Definitely a good all mountain ski. I'm a ski instructor and they got me through technical skiing tests, but can still handle powder and the park. Personally I like them better then some other women's twin tips because they are pretty wide and aren't boxy shaped. I've got the 07-08 model.

Oh and I'm 5'7" and ski 159s, I think that any skis in the 160s would be good for your girlfriend.  Just saw what you wrote about the silencer/missconducts, yeah the silencers are a bit sketch, but they're also men's... And as far as the missconducts, aren't those the junior skis? Missdemeanors are solid skis, my bases and edges have definitely held up to abuse. The topsheet is a little soft and they have crazy chips/scratches (mostly from the kids in my ski lessons skiing all over them), but in general, a good quality ski. The Nancy is a powder ski so I don't know if that'd be a good all mountain ski. The Rossi Scratchs are a definite possibility. My friend has them and they're nice, I think she has the FS, so they're not too wide. The BC's are probably a solid choice. Again, a 160 would most likely be a good length, especially if shes not the most advanced skier. Like, the other person said, if you can try and look into Volkls. A few years back they had the Volkl Kayas, they were sooo nice. And since then that model's been the Pearl, my friend has the newest Pearl's and they're super sick.

Sorry I don't know too much about the specific models you listed, but hopefully the length thing helped.

k2 makes some solid skis. id go with a k2 ski

Thanks for the help, didnt really put the missdemeanors on the list as they are only 80 underfoot and by the description seemed like more of a pure park ski, but what you said sounds really good. Just dont want her to get out in a shit load of pow and find she could do with a bit more width underfoot.

also misconducts are the same spec as the misdemeanors just cap construction, and both come in 159 length which like you say be quite good as k2 runs to about 164ish

girls can pitch in- but I think women specific skis are somewhat pointless.  Most "mens" skis come in short to 185ish lengths, so if a women wants a short ski they can use a short mens ski.  ARVs, Kung Fujas, or a few others are good all mountain.  ARWs could be a good choice, though

missdemeanors- i skied them 90% all mountain, 10% park for a few years in Utah. they're good in the park, yes, but they're also a very fun all mountain ski. and im sure it wouldn't be hard to find an older model for cheaper. same with the nancy's- i doubt they'd be too big at all. i'm 5'2 and i've skied over a 170 and been just fine.
past couple of years, i've been skiing rossi's, which are also a very good all mountain ski. the scratch BC's, mens or womens could also be a very solid choice. good in the pow and on hardpack

My girfriend and I are also from the uk andd have spent the last 2 seasons in Morzine and Whistler together. She generally snowboards nowadays but can ski very proficiently as well and ski instructs a little. She bought Rossi Scrach BC Girls in 170 cm in Canada and didn't get on with them as they were quite chattery on groomers (in softer stuff and in the park they worked well though).

In Morzine the Scratches were nicked and with the insurance money she bought a pair of 169 Nancys and much prefered them because they are a bnit damper and less sketchy on piste. Like most of the K2 factory pow line they are also very soft but compared to the Scratches they sort of bobble over rud rather than deflecting off it.

I have skied both and preffered the Scratches because they were very poppy and soft enough that I could butter them a lot but I am about 3 1/2 stone heavier!

Hope this helps if you are still considering those 2 skis.

Where abouts are you going in Canada? If you make some friends who are instructors they will be able to get a pretty sweet pro-deal on kit. When I was in Whistler we could get Girl Scratches and bindings for $250.

Yeah I'm an instructor myself but I'm limited to one pro-deal per season and need to pro deal some race skis which is gonna save more money overall. Also http://www.skibartlett.com/ has all the models I have mentioned above for pretty cheap prices due to having few seasons ago stock.

Nancys and the BCs seem good, same with the ARW. I agree a mens shorter ski would be fine especially things like ARVs where they are soft anyway. Definitely look into the misdemeanors but still sceptical about all mountain performance, all though as far as groomers they would be ideal. Also probably gonna get her through her CSIA Level 1 too so cant be too wide.

Gah choices choices, thanks for all the help and please keep putting in your opinions really helps.

any opinions on 06/07 ARVs in a 165, i know there noodles but seems like a good ski to me, she likes them because there yellow but seems like a good choice imo

For a beginner really nothing longer than 161... she just will not be able to get the skis to do anything.

From a progression as an All Mountain skier perspective, go with whatever has the shortest turning radius. That way she will be able to correctly turn the skis on hard snow.
