I dunno if anyone will actually READ THIS WHOLE STORY or not.. but its a pretty cool and ironic one.
So when i was 5 and in kindergarten i made a friend at school named jake, and we were homies and stuff and played legos all the time and were just like best little kindergarten pals. So in the winter my dad decided to take me and jake skiing over at Frontenac, MN, which ceases to exist anymore, but it served our purposes fine for back then. We had a way good time and just hung out and all i remember from the experience is eating french fries and running around in our socks in the chalet, and all jake remembers climbing up the little bunny hill and skiing, so together we have the whole thing covered. Anyways, after kindergarten jake started getting homeschooled and i stayed in public school, so we pretty much just fell off the map and never talked or anything. This was until one fine fall day, (i was probably about 11 by then) at the annual Welch Village fall ski swap where i was with my mom so she could pick me up some new ski boots for the upcoming season. While i was trying them on, my mom pointed across the little room and said "hey isnt that your old friend jake over there? So naturally made me go over to him and say hi, even though i was a super shy little guy and didnt want to. I think he was with his mom trying to pick out a snowboard, so his mom made him say hi to me too. It was pretty weird and stuff so neither of us took much out of it. Fast forward another year and a half and i'm out skiing with my parents, just makin some gaper turns down the blue squares and all, when my mom says again, isnt that jake over there? Sure enough he was over standing by the base of the lift with another of his friends, and they saw me and told me to come ride with them. I didnt really want to but my mom was like "ya just go ski with those guys you'll have fun" so i eventually did. From there it pretty much took off, the rest of the season i had my mom drop me off out there and just rode with jake and some other kids from school, but most of the time it was jake. About another 2 years later i got jake to switch to skiing right before the JIB academy came, and since then he's been all the jibber i am and its pretty much our lives just like everyone else on NS. So since being homies back in kindygarten to now, its come full circle and were homies again, through skiing.
started when i was 12.
I snowboarded for a while before that, cause i thought skiing was gay and you couldnt do rails or jumps, but then one day i had to do this class thing for boyscouts and had to ski and not snowboard, but i got hooked immediately and have been doing it ever since
