definitely real. I pretty sure that is Slab Surfing. 
 Slab surfing is "any shallow reef or rock shelf over which very steep and powerful waves break. The term has come to be more closely associated with newly found waves and mysto breaks that break hard in the middle of a large expanse of water"

Holy shit.
That scared the shit out of me and I was just watching.
I could never surf, I like small waves but am scared shitless by big waves, I just am not the big of a fan of getting forced under water for any amount of time.  I'm getting better tho, but I still freak out when friends push my head under water, even if it's just playful.

i need to go surfing in ireland. They have a guy that rents out surf boards, and i am right on the ocean where i am going, me and my cousin will have fun! We leave tomorrow.
