i have multiple retarded noob questions, so if you specialize in answering multiple retarded noob questions and you know about dirtbikes, then this is the place for you
first off, i know very little about dirtbikes, i'll tell you everything you need to know about mountain bikes, but talking about these things i'm useless. i know about cc and all that shit and how these work basically but i'm not current on models and different uses, i know there are a lot of ns'ers who do a lot with these
i've always ridden the kind of bike that you have to pedal but in order to ride those you need trails. we're looking into a dirt bike for building singletrack on our property so we can mountain bike in there, we have a hefty chunk of land in so. vt and we want something to slice in some gnar singletrack. so i have 2 questions, what kind of bike do i want, and where can i get one?
first, it needs to be 4 stroke, therefore around 250cc so it doesn't flip over when you crush the throttle in 3rd gear, a trusted motorcycle mechanic friend gave us these guidelines so we're sticking by them. it can be 5-10 years old but i'd rather not older than that, and looking to pay anywhere from 500-1500, it needs to work decently and be nimble enough to get in the woods but big enough to cut through gnar shit so we can start building trail. i don't want some little childrens 80cc bike thats top speed is 23 mph, this needs to be pretty hefty but i don't want something absolutely massive that will kill me, hence why i'm liking the 250cc range. the land is pretty rough, not super thick forest just untravelled. also we can't have something too too big or else it'll tear the shit out of our trails
second, i wouldn't begin to know where to look for one of these, craigslist would be an option but i don't really know what kind of bike i'm looking for. i'm sure there're good places to look that i don't know about. i'm in southern vt so anything in southwestern NH, western MA, , northern CT, or in VT like below killy is ideal but i can travel further to get one, but it needs to be close to me
so thanks for the help, ask if you need any more info on what i need
