An interesting off-season training idea...

Now, I dont know how I ended up doing this or how the idea came to mind. But I would guess that it obviously has a lot to do with the pretzel phase in skiing: flatland pretzel training in shoes......okay okay just listen and hear me out. Yes, you would look retarded, but it is an incredible workout when you simply go out for a run or nice jog, post up spins back and forth from left 3 to right 3 and incorporate that into a jog. I have been so sick of simple crunches and basic running that I was dieing for something new in the off season and I will tell you that this cant get old....especially when you start throwing in flatland misty 5s to pretzel 5s ( yes i know im landing forward not sideways, but unless you want to keep twisting your ankles i suggest you just land straight forward or straight backwards). Its fun, its similar to skiing? its a great workout for your back, core strength, and legs and once you really get into it, you can do it for about an hour. Thoughts?

i was on a cross country team and all i did was run around doing switch 5s and sliding rails in my shoes, it was pretty sick

i always pretzel curbs when im walking around. people look at me like im an idiot but then i afterbang it and then they usually cheer or ask for my autograph or something.

just running around spinning both ways equally will make u a lot more used to unnatural spins, and when u see a curb jump up on it like a rail and try to stay balanced on it for ten seconds then do 3 swap stay another 10 then pretzel out, this will help balance alot.

sometimes if i don't feel like taking out my skis and the box, i take out my rail,put some of wax on the bottom of my old nikes or some shoes that's bottom is worn out and is basically smooth, run up to the rail, hop, and grind it

thank you stormtrooper! its incredible how much you balance increases! also the curb idea is great...find anything like a balance beam and you can just dance on that thing back and forth and wow does your balance get better.

Also, those cheap little skateboard rails that they sell at walmart work pretty well for dryland.  I posted my back yard practice session on a different thread.  Embeded from Youtube, but I'll throw it up in my vids.  I was just trying to get my 270 on solid and I was messing around with hippie killers.

I do 5's and 7's off stairs and ledges... but idk if it helps at all
the pretzel thing isn't a bad idea though.

I allways do late shifty 180s down short stairs and stuff, a lot more fun than to walk down them..

To pretzel curbs helps you to get the feel for it and then it is a lot easyer to actually nail them on real rails once you know how the rotations works..
So for all of you still working on those pretzels, practise them without skiis! It helps a lot! Thats atleast how i learned them... its great!

Flatland running is super fun, but even more fun if there is small drops to handdrag and spin off, or stones to bonk, imagination is all thats needed.. yes you do look like a retard.. but its fun as hell!

yea i fuck around on curbs and hand rails when im bored and thinking about skiing,

i did my first fake fs switch up to blind 810 on a flat hand rail a few days ago. hahah.
