Broken Kneecap?

This really sucks. I nailed my knee on a rail back in March and I still am not 100%. I went to the doc and took x-rays, found out it was fractured and then was put in a brace for 4 weeks. Now i am going through rehab, but it still hurts and doesnt seem to be making any progress.

Just wondering if any one else has injured their kneecap and what your recovery process was like.

It was around 6 weeks for me before I was able to walk. It was 5 years ago and it still hurts sometimes.

Just give it time! I broke my kneecap a while back and I was in a brace for like 8 weeks. I'd recommend taking it super easy and letting it heal. My doctor didn't really have me do much rehab, so I don't know much on that front.

I broke mine in march on a gap to box, but kept skiing 5 more days with it.  Finally had it checked last week and apparently there is a bone fragment floating around.  I can feel it, and it is gnarly.  It hurt but it wasn't debilitating. 

My old man broke his patella back in the day and was out for a few months.  I guess i got lucky.

From now on it's only jumps and pow for me.

does anyone remember that scarred episode with the bmx rider who broke his knee cap ? shit was crazy then like the first time he got on his bike he tried a similar trick and did the same thing again

that sucks man, just give it time and you'll be bak on your feet. Well id say this kinda related to a broken kneecap, my buddy got into his leg with a chainsaw, and just wanted to share this beautiful pic. its pretty gnarly. if u look close thers some white in ther and thats his kneecap.

My friend broke his knee cap on a down flat down rail in February. He was in a cast for like 2 months and was in a brace up till last Friday when he had surgery to get the  pins out of his knee that were put in there when he had surgery in February. He should be %100 by the end of july

so im bumpin this thread. two days ago i took a bad slam into a rail. turns out i cracked my kneecap. doctor said its gonna be around 4 to 6 weeks maybe longer to heal. nothing for sure yet though. i have to go to an orthapedic when i get back home and when the swelling goes down. nothing is displaced and its not to bad a fracture. just wondering if you guys think im going be skiing this year? or actually able to ski aggressively? i was hoping for march? what do you all think? thanks.

a few hours ago i ate it on a handrail and broke my kneecap into 3 pieces. they said it would be 6-8 weeks, probably 8. what do you think? will i be able to ski very well in 8 weeks

i fractured my knee cap first day. it happend dec 12th and today was my first day back. just linked sme turns.. but mine was a very small hairline fracture

it gets stiff and sour after a while but mabey in three or four weeks i'll be hitting stuff. im defiantly going to wear a knee pad tho. i dont care what it looks like lol

I dislocated my knee cap a couple years back and a little piece of it chipped off... I was in a half cast for a couple weeks and then they did surgery to take the little piece out. I was back skiing after 2-3 months

I actually used to wear knee pads back in the day when i taught. Kneeling on ice trying to get some  kids out of their god awful binding contraptions. I almost might start again. My friend busted his knee cap last year on a rail.

It seems like for skiing knee pads would make it harder. On a board i really didn't notice them. Then again I haven't skied since back in the day, other than the occasional switch just for fun

Best of luck though, those kind of injuries suck. Hope it all works out for you man

i chipped a piece of mine off the size of a nickle, it took all summer to heal up, just wait it out and go to PT it will help a lot.

fuck that, i shattered my kneecap in january and im still not 100%. plus, today i got and xray and they said that one of the screws in my knee snapped and might have to get another surgery. i would have rather broken my ankles any day. knee injuries suck dick
