Balance help?

long story short, im sketchy as fuck when it comes to balancing on rails etc. i need something to help me with this. i lollerblade a bit and that seems to help, but is there any exercises or training shit i can do like at home to help me with my balance??

use one of those balance boards (board on top of pipe like thing)

Dude, I know the feeling.  I used to have horrible balance on rails.  I would get a little bit nervous and look down at the ground on the side and slide off.  Once I started looking to the end of the rail the whole way through, I consistently made it, and it helps to have speed too.  Even going into the lip, look to the end of the rail, and not at the ground, only the end of the rail and your body will stay balanced.  Then it will help you get tricks on rails like nothing.  Try that, if you do, then I don't know what to tell you.  I usually hit rails right side (spin left onto), so try lining up the left ski and it might keep you from slipping forward off the rail.  Does any of that makes sense?  I hope I helped.  If you can, try to build a backyard jib, it helps a ton.

when i was first starting rails i would balance at home on a little skate rail. the thing is only about 1.5-2 inches wide, i figured if i could do a sw up on that without moving i could balance fine on any normal sized rail. i would definitely try it if i were you

point to the end of the rail and look where your pointing looks gay but it worked wonders when i was learning how to do rails this year, once you get the feel for them you wont need to, speed and commitment are also key

try keeping your knees bent, low wide stance, look towards the end of the rail.

when you skate, do some drills of slalom on one leg. then in the winter time do it on one ski. work with spinning left and right + all above.

ya balance board, slacklining, or those half-gym balls on a plastic base. i dont know what they're called, its like a round flat plastic base with half a bouncy ball on top. what you do is do balance variations on it, like 1 foot hopping to the other etc, it helps strengthen all the tiny muscles needed for balance

one thing that helped me a lot was speed. make sure yuo have speed so that the rail can carry you and you dont have to balance as much,

another thing that helps me is setting my front ski like i was going to switch up or spin out, even if your not going to. it looks kind of steezy and it helps to have leverage if you start to slide off in either direction.

I'd really say looking at the end of the rail. I haven't slid anything too long, so I'm sure balance plays a bigger part in that, but for what I slide, just getting enough speed and focusing on the end of the rail is key. I know when your learning you think, "how much could looking at the end of the rail really do?" I thought that too, and then I did it, and now I barely ever slide off the sides. I am not very good at rails, and look like I'm going to come off all the time, but I never do cause I'm concentrated on the end... so do that, because it helps a lot.

go to the gym and do tons of exersize  on the bosu ball. its like those big rubber exersizes balls but cut in half and you stand on it. what i usualy do is squats, 1 foot squats, play catch with the heaviest medicine ball, and jump up and see how many spins i can get. then i usualy stand on the regular exersize ball till i fall, then repeat

slackline for sure, they are fun and easy to set up.
All you need is some webbing and caribiners, check this out or just google how to make a slackline

dont know if somebody said this but....

my friend told me that you get a skateboard deck and a 2 liter bottle. fill it like halfway or more with water and make sure that water wont come out. then just balance on the board on top of the bottle. idk just what i heard.

never take your eyes of the end of the rail... don't freak out... widen your stance and bend your knees

Yeah, it would have looked better if I was out in my backyard in May wearing my G Suit.  Trust me, it does help because it is super skinny and you don't have the added weight of the tip and tail of your skis to help with balance.  You have to land right in the middle of your arch to switch up.  It also helps with getting feet positioning right.

thats the first thing that came to mind before i even clicked the link. My friend has one in his backyard and it really helps. Start low and its also a really good core work out, if that doesnt sound too homo.
