The fact that smoking kills is the stupidest reason to not do it anyway. Everyone dies and a lot of things can kill you. There are plenty better reasons not to do it:

It's disgusting. It has no benefit. It's expensive. It gives you gross diseases that will make you gross... like a green hairy tongue, coughing up globs of goop, etc. It smells bad. It makes you addicted and always have to worry about something. It makes you get out of shape. I could go on forever.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: It makes you look like you dont give a shit about anyone you smoke around, because your directly poisoning them. YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, ETC.

I don't ever have strong opinions about anything, but I can strongly say that I have no respect for (cig) smokers. QUOTE ME ON THAT.

i will smoke a cigar like once a month only like maybe a quarter of it.  i tend to do it outside and away from my parents since im a single child and my dad might come over to talk to me or something but my mom will avoid me.

Alright, so literally a few minutes before I read that thread yesterday I found out that my middle/high school best friend's dad had his cancer come back, and she has a lot of problems herself because of the smoke. I was in shock and very angry. And when I was in high school, I was given shit for not doing it, so I always just kind of saw smokers as assholes. So I'm not going to take back what I said, because I know being angry doesn't give me the right to be cruel, I'll just re-word it.

It's not that I don't respect them as people, I just don't respect smoking... I just don't understand it. I've seen it ruin a lot of lives and waste a lot of people's money.

And to the guy up there who said he goes away from his family when he smokes, all the power to you. I may not respect smoking, but I respect that you have consideration for others.

i initially started doing that because of my dog.  its a Japanese Akita which was a Bear hunting dog in Japan originally and they have a very very good sense of smell and i didnt want to hurt him.  my dad is 70, 71 in august and my mom is 55, 56 in november so i know this may sound cruel but they have lived their lives and well, whatever problems they will end up with later wont be from me most likely but be genetic.  plus my dad used to smoke camel no filters until he left the navy after vietnam.  plus my mom just doesnt like the smell.
