if most of your friends have xbox, go with xbox, it's just way more fun to play with friends. if you're just looking for some hardcore gaming go with ps3. the online is getting better, but most people are more into the casual gaming on xbox.

PS3, it's superior in every way. The only reason you should think about 360 is if you have a lot of friends with one.

360 has a better online features but you have to pay for them I have a ps3 and my friend has both he says he prefers the 360 online but most of us have ps3 so he ends up playing that more. He claims that he doesnt mind paying for xbox live says its well worth it

and like everyone else said, if all your friends have a 360 get a 360, but otherwise get a PS3 (free online)...

also, consider the exclusives for each console.
360 has Halo, Gears of War, Forza etc.
ps3 has MGS, Gran Turismo, God of War, Resistance etc.
