I really think it has a lot to do with the angles at which the shots are taken. I've noticed that many times, in snowboarding films, backcountry kickers are often set up to have the rider travel more vertical distance than horizontal distance. I've also found this to be the opposite in skiing films. So at least from what I've seen, it seems to be more a matter of skiers going more horizontal distance and snowboarders going more vertical distance. However, I have a feeling Timmy D's PBP segment this fall is going to showcase skiers going very, very big...
