i had heard about this someplace on the news but didnt know what happened to the idea and apparently it got pushed back.  but im just curious about the reaction and whether or not something like that could be genuine:


HERE is Obama's RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO LET
THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR WAR INJURIES........

SEND THIS TO EVERYONE TO SHOW JUST WHAT HE THINKS OF OUR MILITARY WHO
FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY AND GET HURT PROTECTING OUR FREEDOM ! ! !

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon
Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require
veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540
million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for
injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active
duty.

The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the
opposition to his  proposal. "Look, it's an all volunteer force,"
Obama complained.  "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have
known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs
of their choice ? It doesn't compute.."

"I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their
country," Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for blood, just money.
With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd
have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help
reduce the nation's deficit.  I guess I underestimated the selfishness
of some of my fellow Americans."

I guess OBAMA just doesn't get that the American people love and
appreciate our military guys and gals who lay their lives on the line
so we can lay our heads down at night in peace.

That's because he is not an AMERICAN at heart. That much is obvious.
Why in the world  people voted for him I'll never know, but we all
will surely pay the price and rue the day that he took office.
America is getting change but not the change they were looking to get.

It's a shame but the people have been had again. ( AS FOREST GUMP SAYS

Well thats just one jackasses opinion. I couldn't think of anyone more patriotic and American than Obama. If they are saying that he isn't truly American, because of the fact that he has lived elsewhere in the world then that just shows you how uncultured the fuck who wrote that is. We have needed a president who understands the world, not someone like Bush who has never been out of the country. How do you expect someone who has never traveled to understand how to deal with foreign policy.

I'm not an Obama lover, nor an Obama hater. As a matter of fact, I didn't even vote for him. But...that story was going around even before the election. It's just more anti-Obama crap. I don't know for sure...but I have to believe it's either made up or taken way out of context.

i heard something very similiar a few weeks back and thats why i posted in another obama thread saying if you voted for obama, your basically kicking every service member in the balls including myself.

if it wasn't for congress, the military pay raise of 3.9 percent or whatever it was starting 2009 would of never gone in. obama wanted 2. something or nothing.  and if it wasn't for bush pushing the plan to begin with, it would of never happened. supposedd to be another little hike in 2010 or 2011 i believe but not looking good.

because the military is the end all and be all of everything right? maybe he'd have plans using the immense amount of money saved if wages were only increased by 2% (which is more than anyone should be getting right now, be friggen thankful for any increase so dont bitch if it's a small one) for more useful and more important need such as healthcare and education and other needs.

by the way for those of you to lazy to click on the link as snopes says he didnt actual say those words but he did support that issue. If you search for it he annouced he felt that way in March or something (not a year ago).

There's absolutely zero chance that Obama used that sort of language with respect to the military. They are definitely out and out made up quotes, or horribly inaccurate..."whining"..."selfish"...nope. False. I wonder how many people take these ridiculous propaganda e-mails seriously. I shudder to think that people actually vote on the strength of such utter bullshit.

That's the worst analogy I've heard in a long time. He was talking about pulling financial support to vets. Sure, it's a bad idea but it's not nearly as serious. Like K-Rob said, he didn't do it, so SHUT THE FUCK UP.

we aren't arguing about him doing it moron, we are arguing the mindset and sentiment behind him actually proposing such a thing. It doesn't matter if he was called out and caved under presser to drop the proposal. What matters is that he felt it was OK to propose it.

I think the administration's intentions were in the right place; trying to save the nearly bankrupt and habitually awfully run VA $540 million, but obviously, this was a pretty stupid proposal. Obama and his advisors seemed to fail to consider what the effects on employment opportunities for wounded veterans would be. This e-mail attempts to paint this proposal in a malicious light, when the truth is, that they were trying to figure out a way to generate money in order to ensure the very survival of the VA.

To be fair, Obama has proposed the largest funding increase for the VA in more than 30 years. His budget includes an 11% increase in 2010, and 25 billion over the next five years. It's important to put things into perspective and not jump to conclusions.

Remember, if we see an overhauling of the healthcare industry in the next 12 months like Obama has promised (in the form of universal healthcare), this will be a non-issue. :)

bush wasn't the greatest, but I really dont think he was the absolute worst. He wasn't conservative. He did terrible things with the budget. Yes. that is straight fact. Im pissed at the wasteful spending he did in office (which IMO is far off from representing GOP views). But really, look at obama. He has a deficit, but he is making it so so much worse. Even if he taxed the top earners 100% for a few years, he still wouldn't have come up with enough money. He's going to print money and our kids and even grand kids are going to have to pay for this spending. Obama basically took an example of terrible spending from Bush and increased it 100x.



Bush's principles at least got our country safer with our efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

But I dont think the argument that someone has principles means shit. Everyone has principles. Some are just shit. Many of Bush's were shit.
