Gnarshmallow - After COC Level

So, I realize that there's so much hype going around on gnarsh, and I am stoked on it, but there are a few things I'd like to point out. I was debating whether to make a thread or not, but I thought other NS members could give some good input on my thoughts, as well as give their own.

So, a few things I like:
1. rail tricks degree of rotation (i.e. 270, 450, 630)
2. new setups. there are some dope street style rails, and you can setup almost anything with the jumps, rails, and landings combined. Also the halfpipe! can't wait for that to work!
3. when you speed check switch, you stay switch after you release up

A few things I think could be improved:
1. How come you can't press up when you're stopped at a session point or anywhere and go straight down? I really liked that.
2. I wish you could rotate things objects (jumps, rails, landings). I can't even imagine how sick that'd be.
3. Lock on key. I've heard rumors about a lock on rails key. I would be soooo happy!


Anyway, QuazBotch, you've done an amazing job, and I hope gnarsh can stay legit forever!

one thing i'd love to have (personally) is the ability to change the controls... my right arrow key is broken and im stuck playing left handed which sucks balls... its be nice to be able to just make 'OKL;' my new arrow keys and move the grabs somewhere else... i dunno how hard that'd be though...


and yeah, i think a rail lock on key would be dope just because its kinda tough to line yourself up perfectly for longer rails... but other than that everything is dopeeee.

naw, spacebar would just be pop. You could pop off lips, or do switchups, or do little butter poppy things.

its a lot easier to hit a rail and line up to it properly in real life than in gnarsh...

This is how i think it should be as far as rail tricks go

spacebar should be the "pop" button.
once on a rail you can switch up by either popping and continuing the rotation started when you spun on, or in order to pretzel before the switch up you have to tap the arrow in the opposite direction you spun on in order to grip the rail and stop the rotation, and then you can switch up the opposite way.

seems a little complicated but i think it would make things more real.

but being able to save the levels after youve edited them would be SICK because i hate setting it up every time!

definitely a save feature. i have the dopest setup right now (i've been seshing for like 2 hours, and ap euro is friday!!!) and i'm not trying to turn off my comp......

Id like to see frontflip / backflip + rotation not be retarded, lincoln+rotation works awsome but frontflip or backflip plus rotation makes the skier break the laws of physics.

And id also like the ability to "rewind" flips back, that is start flipping in one direction then stop and flip the other, this made for some cool looking off axis spins in earlier gnarshmallow versions.

it would be absolutely prime if you could tap the down arrow twice to nollie and the up arrow twice to ollie.
also you could possibly tap left or right twice to switch up.
i think that could be done pretty realistically.

i agree with the front/backflip part! the skier should flip uphill no matter if you already spun 180. Like it is now, if you start flipping after spinning 180 (or more) he does the flip sideways, which looks kinda stupid.

Controlling direction should be with the mouse, the skier would just go towards the mouse wherever you moved it. Similar to WOW for anyone whos played it..

That might be too easy, but im really bad and that would help alot.

I reallllllllly want to see an official OFF AXIS button. Doing spins with lincoln loops is kind of annoying cuz you have to time it perfectly, and its never really a true cork. 

And an Afterbang button is a must!

There are so many things that I want to quote, but I'll choose this one.
Here is a list of really good ideas I have seen or made up (sorry, I can't give credit to everyone, but not all these ideas are mine):

Off axis spins would be dope, cus then it would actually show up as cork or flat spin or something.

Someone else suggested that afterbang be an unlockable grab, I really like this idea.

Also someone suggested double taps for ollies and nollies, I really like that idea.  Spacebar would also be a really good option for popping.

Someone else and I suggested hand drags.  I think that this would be a really great thing.

Te auto lock feature would be great as an option because some really like the idea and some are really opposed to it.

A save feature would also be AMAZING.  If there was a save feature we wouldn't need to unlock all the grabs every time and could keep our custom set-ups.

Rotating objects would be ssoooo nice also.  Maybe a fully custom run?

I also read things about flip rotation and improving that would be sweet.


Gnarshmallow is an AMAZING game thank you quazbotch for making it.  These are just a bunch of suggestions for the game.

being able to chose your skiers outfit color would be cool, but COC is pretty much perfection, especcially when you can mix up your own course.

I'm thinking of adding cows. You can ski over to them and tip them over or jib them or milk them. It will be pretty rad.

And you can sell the milk for new outerwear. And afterbang.
