they could still name the finals, and semi-finals after various bowls, and also have some consolation bowl games for teams that didn't qualify for the playoffs or teams that were eliminated in the playoffs.
the bcs is the dumbest thing ever. if they played a playoff system, everyone knows usc would wreck the fuck out of every other team. its so dumb that teams like utah last year couldnt prove themselves. they went undefeated or something and couldnt get a good bowl game because they dont play in a tough conference. how the fuck do the computers know if theyre better than florida?
I totally agree with the idea, but not the teams you chose for your examples. I think a playoff system will show that the SEC is just as ridiculous as the computers say, and that USC should fall exactly where they did in the end.
I'm not arguing that there should or should not be a bowl system. The sheer fact that Congress is talking about this is just plain stupid. I really don't pay tax dollars for them to bicker over this shit. There are way more important things that actually matter that they should be taking about.
Haha I really think this is just a publicity stunt by Congress. Which btw is disgusting that they have to do it.
But I don't watch enough college football to care all that much about BCS or tournament. The only negative I've heard about the tournament is the ridiculous amount of money it would be to transport entire football teams across the country multiple times. Basketball isn't as big a deal because there are so few people on the team and not a lot of equipment. But I'm more in support of a tournament, which I'm sure most of America is too.
yes theres way more important things to accomplish. But this issue isn't just about football, its about a huge business fucking over its customers (fans) year after year. Why does the NCAA need so much money anyway, where does it go?
I'm not sure if you're supporting Congress regulating it or what but it's still awful they are trying to do so.
It's not up to the government to decide how a business should be ran. The business is making money and since we have a free market economy, Congress shouldn't meddle in shit they don't belong. The only reason Congress has gotten into certain industries lately like the banks and auto industry is because those industries have proven that they can't make smart decisions on their own and need a damn baby sitter.
thats a terrible statement. They shouldnt be involved with the others anyways. So, since they are involved with the banks and the auto business, and lets say that they are involved with the bcs now, according to your logic, maybe they should be involved with the olympics, or the x games, or the ski industry and tell those companies how to run their businesses.
Government needs to just stay out of businesses. "Fixing" the bcs is not going to fix the economy. that thought is laughable. Relating the bcs to communism is also laughable.
The BCS is not fucking over their customers. I dont see how this has all of a sudden become an issue. No one was complaining about this that much 2 years ago. To be honest, I think the current system works. If a playoff were started instead, smaller teams and smaller bowls would not receive anywhere near the amount of attention they do now. It's worked fine the last 100 years or so to.
Did any of you know they didnt even have a national championship game years ago. At one point Georiga tech and Colorado tied for it.
That is insane that the government has to discuss this. I want a playoff, at least to try it. But i don't think anything will ever change because they love raking in tha cash flow of multiple bowl games. Some teams just gotta feel so robbed though!
