Tell me how you feel about a tattoo I want

First off I want to put this out there, I am looking for advice, maybe someone will point something out that I dont see. Im not trying to impress anyone, just looking to see if other people see things that I dont see.

Ok so I basically live my life by the motto "Gimme a chance to shine and Ima blind the world" which is a song quote.
1. I think getting a song quote tattooed on me is a little cliche. What do you all think?
2. If you were getting that, would you get the direct quote or clean it up grammatically to be real words lol. Like "Give me" and "Im going to"
3. IDK where to get it on me or what it should look like. I love graffiti and I was thinking something graffiti. The where aspect, I already have something on my right ribs cage so go from there
4. If you have any ideas on a cool, ORIGINAL (I know its not original to me if someone else thinks it up, but you know what I mean) way to do it, that would be super tits.
5. If you drew something up and pmed it to me that would be +K for trying and maybe $10 or something if I actually use it (odds of that are low because Im picky). Oh and PS I am not really into colored tattoos. Black, white and grey are what I like, but you never know, I have seen some colored ones I like.

I probably typed all this for some shitty responses, So if you have a dumb comment that isnt useful, please leave it out.

#2: I would deffinetly do that, im sure youve gotten this before but when your older and shit your not gonna really want that on you.  I would deffinetly clean it up as mentioned, i agree with the black and white. Also put it somewhere where you can hide it ( for job interviews, ect.)  I saw one of friends had one her foot, it said "believe" in cursive.  I dont know im out of guesses but clean it up. put it somewhere hidable, make it black, maybe in cursive . thats about it

He brings up a great point. I will only get tattoos where they can be hidden with everyday clothes.

And graffiti is my life when it comes to art, so I wont really regret it. It was the only thing I was sure I would like. But the rest of it was questionable. I have been thinking about this for years now, so it is not a quick thought lol

IMO I  would have an artist friend draw up a little sketch or symbol which stands for this. That way when somebody asks what it is you just tell them instead of having somebody squinting at you and trying to read it. Also most people with phrase tats regret them within a few years. As far as location, keep it somewhere that can be covered up without too much trouble. I understand it's cool to show it off for awhile, however you have to remember that someday you'll probably be in a scenario where your appearance can and will make a difference... like job interviews etc. Your ribs should be fine.

i think that whole quote is gonna look bad in graffiti because it is quite long. im just not a fan of graffiti tattoos. i think it should stick to walls and bridges lol.. this is just cuz i know a chick that got her name in graffiti tattooed on her back.. it was done by a good artist but it was the trashiest thing i've ever seen..

you will regret it. straight up. graffiti? no. i'm a writer myself and would never put that on my body permanently. song lyrics? do you really want someone else's words tagged on your person? and slang? we all have to grow up some time. when you do you wil feel less than smart when you see misspelled words on yourself. i just got my first one done last monday, don't regret a thing. because it was carefully thought out, came from my head, something that has meant a lot to me for a while, and always will. good luck, and whatever you do, do it for yourself.

personally i'm nott big into tats. But if your definitdely gonna do it, i think it'd look really cool in a legible cursive writing straight black

the black and white is a good idea, also with the spelling.  but i would keep it in a nice cursive font and readable.  you dont want someone looking at it and is not able to see what it says.

Babe, I think that you should do what makes you happy. Its on your body for the rest of your life, so make it what YOU want. Even though I am going to have to look at it for a very long time too! :o) You better be there when I get my next one too!!

i have a few tattoos and i'm getting a load more and the thing i always tell people is if it means a lot to you it's worth it. so no matter what people say, it has to matter to you. and of course i always get the what about when you're older, well that's definately something to think about. i think i see this as a back piece, but i dont know. i think graff would definately make it cluttered, but if that's what you want try and find an artist who specializes in that. thats something else most people neglect, shop around for your artist if possible. tattoos suck hard done by the random guy and that sketchy shop. b&w ink is sick. and as for grammar i would probably not go with the slang, if you think about it grammatically you might be like ...hey this was fucking gay..so in that respect. i was also going to put a lyric on my chest, it was living between structure and compelte freedom, something like that. its written somewhere and itll go on soon enough.. good luck

i think if you get it written in graffiti you should just use the first letter of each word in the quote like the initials and graffiti them all next to each other

or you could get the quote written in cursive up the side of your torso under your arm and i wouldnt use slang

Cursive is the way to go. That sounds like it could make a good shoulder blade tat, although I'm not to fond of the lyric idea. Since it's permanent, spend a LONG time thinking about something meaningful and/or something you think is really cool. If you really want someone else's song lyrics, go for it! I got my first tat this year and it took me forever to come up with something that I liked. I looked at a lot of drawings and in the end, I just came up with my own idea and talked to an artist and he drew up this for me:

Everyone needs to stop hating on this qoute. I'd make it grammatically correct, I have a qoute on my ribs, it looks good. No I don't regret it and no I never will, nor do I really care what anyone has to say about MY body either. Make it exactly how you want it, it only matters if you think it looks good.

Ok Ill try to respond to everything...

1. I love taking pictures of good graffiti and that sort of artistic thing. I cant really draw to well when Im not on adderal.
2. Yeah its not my art but unless you do the tattoo yourself, its not your art even if the artist is tracing your work. Its still his/her art.
3. We have a world know tattoo artist where I live so it wont be done by some jank place. Its called On The Edge in Bowling Green Ohio if you dont believe me.
4. The song is from the Transplants, and Tim Armstrong is one of my favorite musical artists, from my favorite band Rancid. So I will always love the band. But its not for symbolism of the band. Its kind of how I feel I live my life so its not really for the lyric, its for the meaning of the words.
5. Grammatically correct is how I would get it after thought.
6. Have graffiti already and love it:

7. If youre going to hate on this tat, refer to my pictures in my profile for my symbolism of it. I wrote it somewhere in the comments
8. Im not a fan of cursive without it being with a picture
9. Not really looking for if you like graffiti or the lyrics or anything, I was more looking to see if I was not seeing a major flaw in the idea lol.
10. My karma went down for this thread and I think that is funny.

after reading this i think that this thread started off well with positive feedback then people who dont like tats showed up and started hating.

man i have a back tat.."In God I Trust". i know its somethin ill live by till i die.

i think when it comes down to it just think is it something that u can live by for the rest of ur life.

cliche this cliche that...i think u gotta do what u want...i spent prolly a year in a half deciding how i wanted mine and really thinking if i wanted it.

if u have any doubt in ur mind dont do it think bout it more.

have the artist draw it first and if u dont like it have them change it. thats is their job. i think that quote u got is sick. it may be a lyric but its also somethin that is true...if it were me i would stay away from graffiti just because it seems like that would be hard with no coloring.
but whatever i think thats sick and if uve never had a tattoo then make sure u can tolerate pain cuz i heard ribs kill.

get it all drawn up how you like it and put it somewhere youll see it often. look at it every day for 6 months or a year and if you still like it, put it in your skin.

Yeah it is a great suggestion. The one I have now I wanted for three years before I got it. And I dont have the design, but the words have been with me for many years. I would never put something on me that I would ever be embarrassed about and that I havent thought about for a long time. But this is very good advice to anyone else in this position

do this^  i drew up my own tattoo and put it right above my computer and the more i look at it the more i really understand why i want it. mine has a lot of meaning for me and thats my big thing, but its going to be tiny(credit card size), im not a big fan of the huge tattos that stretch across the entire back or arm of someone. Id fix the gramar because when your older it might be looked at as immature rather than a quote you actually live by. Good Luck :)

Oh and Transplants suck, why don't you get a quote from ...And Out Come the Wolves or Lets Go instead? Rancid were actually an awesome band back before like 05, but Transplants have always been terrible.
