Talk about how it would take approximately 5 years travelling at almost the speed of light to reach the closest star to earth. And that isn't even guaranteeing we'll find a planet that can support life lol.
Or you could talk about the LHC and the Higgs Boson particle, and the results of the discovery of said particle in the field of space travel. I'm not totally sure if thats what they're trying to find but I'm pretty sure this is the particle that would establish the connection between matter and mass, meaning that if mass and matter could be separated, then travel at speeds well faster than light would be possible.
F=(0 mass)(infinite acceleration)
F=0
See where I'm going? This is only coming from a grade 11 physics student, so if I got it all wrong feel free to point it out.
