About a month a go my 2nd gen iTouch just stopped working... wouldn't turn on, restart, or anything. So, I took it into my local apple store assuming they could fix it. I was then told that it had evidence of water damage (there is a sensor inside the headphone jack that turns red when it touches water). They said they could either fix it for $150, I could trade it in for like 15% any new ipod, or I could try and go to a private business to get it fixed. So, I took the card for a guy that works out of an At&t dealer. I went into the store and he looked at it quickly and told me he could fix it for about $117. After weighing my options I decided that was my best plan of action. One week later and I had not recieved a phone call about the repair. Today, I called the guy asking on an update with my iTouch. He was like "oh yeah uh you're the guy from Sun Prairie right?" I was was like "yeah....". So he's like "Yeah its beyond repair." So I asked him what he meant and he said that some board was totally fried. So i was like alright now what? He said I had two options, I could either pay a $25 inspection fee to get it back or they would just use it for parts. I told him I would call back. So, now I don't have my iTouch even if I wanted to go back to the Apple Store to get 15% off of a new one, unless I pay another $25 to get it back. The guy never said anything about an inspection fee, never sounded concerned about not being able to fix it, and he never even bothered to call me and tell me he couldn't fix it!!! Not only that, but I am unemployed, so $25 is a lot of money for me to just throw away right now. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cliffnotes: Apple store wanted to charge me $150 to fix my iTouch, took it to an At&t store where they said they would do it for $117. Never called me back, so I called a week or so later and the guy said it was beyond repair and I would have to pay a $25 inspection fee to get it back. LAME!!!
